@ancientdreams, can’t afford? what are you talking about? AD Branch is practically free for everyone

No haha I meant for reg NYU. I’m still nit sure which I’m putting as my first choice. And I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t get into NYUAD which is why I’m reluctant to apply there ED.

ancientdreams, I had similar self-doubt issues but realized my dreams are worth following. I just created a facebook group for all of us applicants for the class of 2018. Hope all of you can join so we can interact, ladies and gentlemen (because let’s face it, we’re bound to spend more time on facebook then CC) :D

@AdamAshraf Thank you so much for making that group!! I’m still doing ED my ranks go as follows: Abu Dhabi, Shanghai and then the NYU campus.

I am elda I have heard about it and I love it so much but do you think I can apply to this?

@Elda200, why not? Of course, you can apply!
Join us on facebook so we can discuss your stats there :D

@Elda Of course you can apply! It never hurts to take a chance at something. I wish you the best of luck! :)

I’m facing a little bit of an issue here. I missed the ED1 Nomination form deadline so there are two options before me. Applying ED2 with the nomination form or applying ED1 without the nomination form? I don’t know what to do.

Apparently, there was a mishap can and my counselor can still nominate me. Why is this thread so inactive?

Hey guys! I’d like to ask about applying ED 1. Can you still be considered for more than 1 campus of NYU? or you must choose only one, and sign an ED agreement for this specific campus?! I’m confused a bit

Long ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I received a good bit of help from this thread, and now I am an NYUAD undergraduate student!

If you need any help, feel free to post questions. I’ll try to check back often to answer whatever I can :)

@Rose 777, when I applied, I signed the ED agreement for NYU in general, and in the supplement section, I checked the box for “NYUAD” only. I believe you can apply to multiple NYU campuses at once. I have a friend who was not accepted to NYUAD but was instead accepted to NYUNY.

Thank you so much! Nice to meet you!:)

Hey this is a completely ignorant question, but what is the early decision nomination form?

I’d need to know as well :(

Basically, if your school is registered for NYUAD (your school director or guidance counselor should know this), then you can get your counselor to nominate you for NYUAD. The nomination is like a vouch from the school that the nominated student is one of the most excelling students within the student body and is capable of high achievements. It’s like an extra appeal on top of a recommendation letter. You can still apply and get accepted without it though.

Hey guys, does the section about test scores is “complete” on Albert?! My scores were sent, but I worry it indicates uncomplete yet. Does anybody have the same issue?

Hey, new here.
Any Europeans here? I recently found out about NYUAD and it seems very nice…
Some questions:
- How important are the extracurricular activities? Since I wasn’t seriously considering applying to a US university (financial reasons mostly, and lack of interest on my part) and I could easily get into the local schools I wanted on standardized test scores alone, I wasn’t doing many competitions, writing, etc people usually do (at least that’s my understanding)… no NGO stuff either.
I’ve done things to better myself and expand my horizons so to speak, but generally not things that can be easily measured, compared or put in a bullet point list. Maybe my understanding of this is flawed ;D. - Do I need to do SAT or is local (national) standardized test considered equivalent? From what I know, the one we do here is similar, but lacks the writing; we have a highschool leaving/finishing exam with writing part though, so maybe that …
- The local (national) test consists of 3 parts, two of which I scored in the 100th percentile and the third in 99th (they define percentile X score as “X percent of people scored the same or worse”). I should note here that the test is not as granular as SAT - whereas SAT has 800 points in one part, ours has I think 35, 30, 25 points per part, which can be divided by four, so the results can look like 25.75, 21.25 and so on. So it could be said its really 120 (140, 100) points vs SAT’s 800.
Considering this as well as 1), do you think that I may have a chance of being accepted to NYUAD? - I’m currently studying at a local university (I wish I had find out about NYUAD last year…). I checked out the NYUAD website and it says it’s possible to apply even if currently studying at another university, but that I would have to start from year one again… Anyone done this before?

This page has been kind of dead for a while, so I guess I’ll get the ball rolling again!
Anyone else apply ED I?
If you did, did you have as much difficulty with the Common App as I did? Everything from teacher recommendations to converting my system (Australian) to the US was a nightmare for me!

The common app is having all sorts of problems. I submitted my application last night, and my essay would not properly format when the Common App converted it into a PDF. Luckily, the admissions officers let me submit it by email.

(hey, while we’re all waiting, let’s chat - https://www.facebook.com/groups/NYU2018/ )

Hi guys,
I am so happy to finally find this thread. I’m from Hungary but I go to a German-Hungarian High School. I wanted to know if we have to convert our grades to the American GPA on a 0-4.0 scale. If yes has anybody from Germany or Hungary done this before?

can’t find any information on that…:(
