Thanks for the reply.
Regarding the extracurriculars, at first I thought that it meant only activities organized by the school or other institution, but from what I read on various sites it seems almost anything can be categorized as extracurricular activity… Even things people do on their own, like mountain biking, hiking, playing an instrument, learning a language, etc.
Can anyone with more knowledge in this area please confirm this?

I’m probably going to apply ED II as well.
Our school doesn’t have a counselor (or rather anyone who would advise people on their studying/career opportunities), so I suppose a letter from the teacher who taught my class for 8 years should suffice.
Do I need to have the letter translated to English? Or is it something NYUAD will take care of themselves?

Anyway, best of luck to everyone, maybe I will get to meet all of you awesome people on one of the CWs.

Hello, everybody! I got an invitation to CW and wanted to ask who else did? Just to keep in touch and ask questions about “preparing to depart” process. omg I’m so excited! Hope to see you there. Good luck!

Hey everybody, I have a question. My school nominated me and another student. That other student received an invite for the CW a couple of days ago. I did not hear anything back yet, is there any chance that I will still get an invitation? We both applied ED I, though I sent my application later than the other student. I hope someone can help me out!

First I’d like to ask you a question. Have you emailed NYUAD telling that you want to apply? I’ve contacted NYU Abu Dhabi Outreach Officers of Latin America and they are great! I’ve participated of webinars and even received some material about NYUAD through mail. Have you done that, too?

And yes, the extracurricular are not limited to the things you do at school when you’re not on the classes. I guess you can even put a paid job on your common app as an extracurricular activity if you think it’s going to aggregate something good in your application.

The counselor part is being the most problematic of my application because in my former HS does not have a counselor as well, but I guess I’ve already figured out this problem.

We have to send our documents in English Anyway, where are you from?

Hey there
Last year, another student of my school was nominated and I wasn’t. But we both got invited to the CW, so this is definitely possible!

Hi there! I’m european and I’m applying EDII. I’m also currently studying at university, unfortunately when I was applying I didn’t know about NYUAD. I will take my first SAT in December and have finalized writing CommonApp essays. My main concern now is school report and recommendations.

1) Am I right, do they necessary must be filled as online forms since new regulations or I can manage them with printed? I’m not sure whether my teachers can make it online
2) Could my school nominate me for NYUAD (I’m sure it would like to), if it has no connections with that college?

Do you know who decides if you can back out of the ED agreement due to financial resons? Is it the college or the family? And what happens in a worst case scenario if let’s say a war breaks out in the UAE and you do not feel comfortable to attend under these circumstances? Can you back out? I’m about to have my parents sign the ED agreement but they are really sceptical, they say it all sounds too easy…

^I think RDers can only go to the last two candidate.

Congrats to everyone who got invited! I hope that will be me soon lol. Could you guys keep us posted on what the candidate weekend is like? I’m so obsessed right now, it’s insane. I’ve finished my nomination, almost finished my application, and soon the wait will begin!

I somehow forgot to reply here.
I’m Czech. You? I did some reading on the website and then emailed the outreach contact listed there. I didn’t receive any material or participated in webinars, I just asked some questions regarding the application process and such. After a few days I got a reply from one of the outreach officers. She also asked me about my high school and said they would consider including them in their outreach/regional events plans in the future.

I’ve asked the thing you are unsure once to the outreach officer, and she told me that the counselor and recommender can’t be the same person. However, I guess that you should send an email explaining your case.
