NYU Abu Dhabi

I speak 6 languages, 4.0 GPA and a 2400 on the SATs.
I’ve successfully built a spaceship and travelled to the moon.
I am a part of my country’s royal family.
I’ve been in many hollywood films.

OMGZ I D0NT STAND A CHANCE :(

Lol >< I am pretty darn excited for college apps in general  and, daveyyy, yeah I know I mean those GPA and SAT scores of yours could use some improvement :P

Hey, guys! I’m applying ED1 for NYUAD Class of 2017. Just finished up all the Common App and NYU supplemental essays. Now I have to get them revised! Sigh. :frowning: Anyone else done?

It says on the website of NYU Shanghai that international students will get modest financial aid. Does someone know how much it will be? Is it possible that it will be full grant like in Anbu Dhabi?

I think it may be enough to cover a big chunk of the cost, but nowhere near the generous support in Abu Dhabi.

Yeah. NYUAD is very generous with financial aid and scholarships. A friend of mine was accepted with a full scholarship and she was a pretty average student (though she did apply for the first class). Now I hear it’s much harder to get accepted. Although I’m pretty sure the financial support will be the same, since it’s government funded.

So, do you think that someone with my financial situation (a couple of comments up) would get a scholarship?

When you apply to NYU in New York, do you have to apply to NYU AD separately?

@legendary: Not sure about specifics, but I’m sure that they’ll be able to offer a somewhat generous amount.

@SgtDonut: It’s all included in the supplement. You can choose which campuses you apply to, whether it’s only NY or AD or both.

God, I’m so scared of my (probably) inevitable rejection :(.

Winners go to the battle having won the war already!
Don’t think you going to get rejected or else you will! KEEP POSITIVE
my words for the day :)

Agreed with hunbun! Stay positive. I think none of us, no matter how brilliant, can be guaranteed admission to a school with more than 15,000 applicants and less than 200 places. But I do know this: as long as we try our best, work hard on our applications, and tell our story to the best of our abilities, we’re better off than most.

hey guys! so basically NYUAD only accepts people with perfect gpa and sat scores. does anyone know someone who got in and has average scores?

My son got in the first year - 2260 SAT/33 ACT - 4.0 GPA - however, from his notes and my research I have to conclude that they look equally at the overall person and what their assets and life experiences are. Write an excellent essay and go for it. Good luck.

need some help!!!

1). For the commonapp, we will add New York University and then tick NYUAD?
2). If you want to go for early-decision, and you don’t want to be binded to NYUNY or NYU Shanghai then you tell them that you dont want to be considered for either of those and only want a decision for NYUAD, right?
3). Will it be advisable to go for ED with a predicted SAT score? (NYUAD’s website allows predicted SAT results)

Hey guys! Went to an Admissions Workshop at NYUAD the other day. Very informative!

1) Yes.
2) Yes, you only apply ED for NYUAD if that’s what you want. If you don’t want the ED binding agreement for NYUNY or NYU Shanghai, and still want to apply, tick that you’d like to be considered for those campuses, and tick NYUAD as your first choice. (I’m not completely sure though you might want to verify that)
3) No, you need firm results to apply. I don’t advise you to put yourself in that kind of situation. The Admissions Committee need to have some kind of test score available.
The predicted test results are allowed when you want to repeat your SAT and already have scores. Then, you would list in the additional information section that you will be retaking your SAT. (This is what I got from the workshop. Again, I’m not totally sure, but the admissions officer really stressed on trying to have the scores you want before you apply, otherwise just apply for ED 2 or RD)

As for the nominees, the essay question is a load of crap. Just saying. Can’t think of anything (in terms of a significant research topic). Should it be related to our specific majors in mind or what?

Hi, thanks for the help. I’ll look into it. :)

About the research paper, I think it can be related to anything. I have read a lot of samples and they don’t always reflect majors. Good luck!

I found the Nomination question interesting?
And I just got a cute email from NYUAD asking me to submit my application as soon as possible because they’ve recieved my nomination. <3 ILY NYU

Ohh you have samples? Could you link me? If you don’t mind that is :)

HangingOnStars,
Have you completed most of the common app yet?
