NYU Abu Dhabi

@Traveler13 Yes, they will most certainly be looking at all four years of your high school career. :slight_smile: And thank you for mistaking me for an NYUAD student, haha. Made my day! But sadly, I’m not. Just another run-of-the-mill ED1 applicant here. You can message me though if you have any more questions; I’ll try my best to answer. :slight_smile:

"Dear FrancaiseLove,

We recently received your application to New York University. We are honored that you have applied to NYU and we look forward to reading about you. All of our communications - including your admission decision letter - will be sent to you by email, so be sure to open any emails we send to you."

Received my NYU NetID! I submitted my application on October 24th. You guys should be getting them soon. :)

@FrancaiseLove Did you just get them? or have you had it for a long time already?

@unfathomable I just received it today, the 8th of November. I actually read you guys talking about it earlier but I hadn’t received mine yet. It’s no big deal; just contact the Admissions Office if you haven’t received it by next week.

@Jayjayxoxo hey, isn’t it contradictory? you said you submitted your application last week on 1 Nov in your previous post. But then in the next post you said you submitted on 28 August…just curious…

@kaiseryin

Jayjayxoxo must be a ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ? :|

guys seriously how much are sat scores considered?

@HangingOnStars On the NYUAD Home Page, it talks about how SAT/ACT scores are only a part of the application formula. In my opinion, as long as you don’t have a seriously low SAT score (very subjectively speaking), you will be fine.
It does, however, talk about recommendation letters being quite vital. But I’m sure the AdCom will look at the overall application instead of straining out for SAT Perfect Scores.

@kaiseryn I know right? I was actually just thinking that too. Haha.

@unfathomable thanks! yeah they aren’t exactly amazing but they’re okay
yeah, i was thinking the same thing when i first saw her comment but i thought it would’ve been rude to say something… :P

@Daveyyy @kaiseryin @unfathomable Yeah, I agree. Sounds a bit questionable.

@HangingOnStars What was your score? If, in your opinion, it does not accurately represents your academic potential, you could always choose not to disclose it. I’m not sure what the rules are about that. But you could could just run on nationalized exams?

@HangingOnStars accurately represent* It won’t let me edit! Sorry, bit of a grammar tyrant, haha.

Did anybody receive a CW invitation yet?

@Tutti

Candidate Weekend Invitations will most probably not be sent until 15th November. That was when they were sent last year, so we could even expect them to come later due to the delays caused by Hurricane Sandy.

@TuttiFruttii Yeah, last year a lot of people got theirs on the 22nd, some earlier than that though. We should stay alert after the 15th though. But because of Sandy, like Daveyyy said, it might be delayed.

well ok then. Thank you!
Anyway, how are you all doing? Studying at school keeps me busy, but I am still thinking a lot about NYUAD… I really want to get in there :)

What are yours other choices? What are other schools you applying to?

@Tutti.

hahaa you wanna get in?
so do we… and 15,000 OTHER applicants. D:

but all we can do is hope! :slight_smile:
We’re all gonna be fineeee!

@Daveyyy @TuttiFruttii @FrancaiseLove @unfathomable

Do you all appy ED for NYUAD? What is the status of your high school transcript in the Albert? Mine is still not received:(

@Daveyyy I see there are just 800+ ED applicants last year. It is still hard though.

P.S. I know someone from class of 2015 got his invitation on 12 Nov. Super early!

@kaiseryin I applied ED, too. The status of my transcript is ā€œcheckedā€. Are you sure your councelor submited it? If yes, then just write to the admissions. I am sure they can explain everything to you :)

Hey guys!! Just thought I would join in this little group of antsy ED 1 ers or what have you.
It is such a relief to see that there are a decent amount of people just as nerve wrecked as I am about this entire process.
This may all be virtual but it definitely looks as though there is a really nice support system taking place here.
Any who, wish you guys all the best and congrats to the one who got her invite already-- maybe?
In the end though (and this is to reassure myself too), it won’t be the college that defines us but who we are as an individual.
Although I will admit… the college certainly helps.

@kaiseryin

mine is unchecked too :(… and it say no HS code entered…

@TuttiFruttii Yeah i can see my counselor submitted. Maybe it takes time for college to check. I would inform admission officer at the same time. Thanks!

@Ebadsyed Do you mean the description of your HS is not showed? I guess maybe it’s because you forgot to type your HS name on common app? We both should call the office!

@twostepsfromit Hi there! You are definitely welcomed! So there are totally 8 ED applicants now, including @Ebadsyed & @HangingOnStars? Sincerely hope that each of us could get the invitation! Besides, anyone needs essay editing? I personally need it soooo bad!! Maybe we can form a group and help each other since we have the same aspiration?
