@ahtesham Email the Admissions Office. They should be able to help you out.

@boss7266 Do you mind sharing what your stats where meaning sats and what not and I am a pretty average student i have an A- gpa but am extremely involved! Do you know any students who were admitted and had SAT scores that were below a 2000 or slightly above? Or oes everyone who is admitted have perfect stats?
Also this is a question to my fellow applicants, did you get the idea for your nomination essay from the website that was written in the prompt?
Thank you!

@abrarskiii The idea behind my nomination essay came from reading articles online, not specifically from the website they gave us. I think the listed website was only meant to serve as a reference or starting point, not necessarily the only place we could gather information from.

@abrarskii I donāt honestly think it makes a difference which source you use for your research proposal. ;)

So from what I know about the CW invitations, theyāre sent out at least 2 weeks in advance of the weekend. So it seems like you guys should be getting them any day now.
As for my own personal stats, I had a 2260 on the SAT (NOT perfect!). 4.0 GPA, a few ECs with leadership roles, strong essays, strong rec letters. My application wasnāt one of those stellar NYUAD! screaming ones, but here i am haha! The important thing, in my honest opinion, is to convey your true self in your application, not what you think theyāre expecting.

@boss7266 Thank you for sharing. Your stats (which, I believe are great) show that NYUAD considers its applicants in a more holistic approach than any other college. I see that some are accepted for academic excellence, some for extracurricular excellence, and some for a blend of the two. Itās not just about 2400ās and playing the flute and the piano and coming from a white, protestant family background with a steady financial status. Thatās why Iām so intrigued by NYUAD.

hey guys!
iāve been reading this thread for a while now so decided to start posting to join in with all the nyuad discussions!
iāve applied ed1 and iām nervously waiting to hear back! itās really hard for me to compare my stats as iām a british student, does anyone know of any other british students applying? i want to compare grades (iāve already recieved mine as iām on a gap year now)
also does anyone know the average age of students that go?
good luck to everyone!

@boss7266 Youāre too humble. I think that is one of those āscreaming NYUAD!ā applications. Congrats again!

@unfathomable Well, in my opinion, there are a lot of schools that focus on a diverse, holistic approach in their admissions: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, etc. But whatās unique about NYU Abu Dhabi for me is their dedication to globalism throughout their vision. I think that idea is reflected through their geographical location and cosmopolitan student body.

@LizaTB What were your grades? Iām predicted AAA in Economics, Psychology, and Literature. Oh, and Iām taking two extra Advanced Subsidiary subjects in my nine month gap time. :)

@FrancaiseLove I got AAA in maths, further maths and physics with an A in my extended project about the Large Hadron Collider (equivilent to an AS)
I guessed that I was a weaker candidate grades wise so just got to hope that my extra curricular stuff will count for me! Iāve got a friend there whoās in his second year and he got AAA so it sounds like you could be in with a good chance :)

@LizaTB Weaker candidate grade wise? No, not at all! Your grades are awesome. Iām sure if you have good essays, good recs, etc. that your chances are pretty high up. :)

@FrancaiseLove aww thanks so did you apply ed1?

also just a general question, do they tell us if weāre unsuccessful? or do we just have to wait and then figure it out for ourselves if we donāt hear anything? plus if iāve applied ed1 would they only invite me for the candidate weekend for ed1? or could they invite me for a later one? sorry for all the questions :p

@FrancaiseLove Well, I was thinking more like Williams, Amherst, Swarthmore, and Pomona (infamously and maybe erroneously dubbed āWhite Anglo-Saxon Presbyterianā)ā¦The Ivy Big Three - I donāt know enough about their admissions and preferences to say anything. So Iāll keep my mouth shut.
But what I was basically getting to was that NYUAD is unbiased in its selection of applicants. I mean, Iām pretty sure theyāre looking for SOMETHING, but itās not a ā2400 on the SAT = Acceptedā kind of school. Itās willing to embrace diversity, and like you said, globalism.

But to be honest, I donāt think right now is the time to fuss over this. We all applied to NYUAD because, obviously, it was our first choice. That should speak for itself. Iām sure weāve all done our research on NYUAD. But really, thanks for your insight :)

@LizaTB They will tell us that we were not accepted on December 15th, but on the website, it tells us that if we donāt get invited to the Candidate Weekend, then weāre probably rejected. And I donāt think there was a case in which a person was not invited to CW and was accepted to NYUAD.

And if you applied ED1, then you will only be invited for the ED1 CW, unless you email them to let them know that that specific weekend will not work for you. Then they might consider letting you come to the next one. But I think itās a rare scenario.

Best of luck to everyone :)

I am extremely nervous guys. I hope we all get accepted.

@unfathomable thank you, i kind of thought that but its good to get it confirmed :)

@ahtesham same! good luck, weāve all just got to hope for the best :)

@unfathomable Oh, donāt mistake my unnecessary commentary as fussing, haha. Just like having a meaningful discussion is all. Youāre right though; the fact that we chose NYUAD as our first choice speaks for itself.

@ahtesham I totally know what youāre talking about. I have these bouts of heart palpitations combined with insanely sweaty palms while refreshing my email over, and over, and over, and over⦠you get the idea, haha.

@LizaTB Why yes, I am a fellow ED1er. Glad you joined us! :)

@FrancaiseLove hahaha, Thats also the case with me. lolz
@LizaTB I totally agree with francaiseLove. You have amazing grades and OMG you have A in Further math.I am sure you are considered a star in your school. :D

So hey fellow EDers- so Iām still a pretty nervous wreck!

The jitters come every once in a while when I start thinking about it all (which I try very hard NOT to do).

To make myself feel better (haha not really) I like to look at the pictures students at NYUAD share on Facebook or on Flickr and then imagine I am there with them and life is good at NYUAD with my feet sinking into the scorching hot sand on the dunes as I listen to the various languages my fellow peers communicate with.

NYAUD is my 1st choice because it dared to be radically different, just like NYU Shanghai promises to be too (I didnāt apply there though, preferring the Middle East).
Iām sure all of you received a meaningful experience just through this process.

I faced some difficult confrontations with my parents as to whether I should even consider studying so far away (I live in VA, USA).

Yet I donāt believe the location was what really convinced me but rather the entire concept- the idea of this group of completely diversified individuals collaborating together through a prime liberal arts education in the culturally rich metropolis of Abu Dhabi- now THAT is what intrigues me.

I donāt really believe in fate too much but man oh man NYUAD has completely moved me in terms of what I feel an education should truly be like.

ARGHāso much anxiety!

When do we find out about the candidate weekend?
And is the code for NYUAD same for NYUNY in the CSS profile? Also where to send other forms like tax returns and stuff?
