@thinhtran3006, OMG!!! I can’t believe it! Exact same dillemma in my mind. Even though I’m from Egypt, I wanted to address the same exact issue. While some might see this as me being a coward, I felt like the choice would be too bold and may end up in a rejection so I stuck to environmental awareness!!! I suggest you avoid something so controversial.

@thinhtran3006

Uh no. Submitting an essay regarding LGBT rights in a non-secular state is definitely not a good thing. Please don’t do it.

@thinhtran3006 Reading your post broke my heart. No one should have to choose between their personal beliefs and getting accepted into a school. I think that if you handle the topic with class, dignity, and grace, it should not be a problem. Obviously applying the status of Canada’s liberal gay rights (gay marriage, ability to serve in the military openly, partner benefits, adoption, etc.) to that of Egypt may seem too far fetched and improbable, however, maybe legalizing homosexuality could be a first step that you could write about. Please know that I know exactly where you are coming from and where your heart is. Please send me a private message if you need anything. And congratulations on your invitation. All the best; I’m sure you can write well about whatever you choose to write about in the end. :)

Hey guys! Congrat to all who received thier CW invitations!!! I am so happy for you all
Regarding Albert, has everybody seen the change made? Now it shows the major I chose to study if I enroll. I did not write them what I want to study but in an essay in CommponApp i kinda mentioned it. I guess that they already reviewed my application
Does everybody can see an intended major you chose like I do?

CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE! And those still waiting, good luck! :)

The email states that the deadline is 19th November, Monday. What will be the time to submit forms/writing? Like is the deadline time 11:59 pm on Sunday 18th? Or can we to do it by tomorrow (19th November) by 11:59 am?

@TuttiFruttii No, I haven’t seen the change. And I also discussed my intended major in one of my essays.

@De12345 Congratulations, friend! Great job. You seem to have very specific questions. Just do it before the clock takes us to November 20th, and you should be fine, haha.

@TuttiFrutti Really? I’m on Albert right now, and it looks the same to me too. Haha, well it really doesn’t matter. I mentioned a major, but it may change still a little bit undecided because I my interests tend to be all over the place.

Is it okay to send 718 words instead of 700 for the Candidate weekend assignment or would it make me seem like a candidate who fails to abide with rules?

What’s Albert!!! I feel so unqualified. I haven’t even heard of it!!!

@osamasayegh

It’s 750 words! you’re good.
And NYUAlbert is the NYU portal! You must have heard from them by now! :O

And thanks for the help @FrancaiseLove

What percentage of CW attendants are likely to get admitted!!!

Do all of you have your financial aid part in Albert lookign like this or is something wrong with mine?!!!

URGENT RESPONSE REQUIRED!!!1

Hey guys, all of those who have already received their CW invites- congrats again and i have a question for you.
Log into your Albert page- go to application status- and look for application date in the little description bar.
what does it say? I’m just trying to figure out whether the CW invitations are linked with those in any way.

@osamasayegh nothing is wrong, quite sure it’s supposed to be like this

Congrats to everyone who has received an offer! Can u guys tell me if any of you we’re nominated by your school?

guyys
for those who were nominated
in the essay
did you provide an intro
or just stated the research question and describe how you would obtain the information

@HangingOnStars treat it like a report. Elaborate on the topic’s significance to you, then state your research question, method and evaluation)

Okay I introduced the topic (exactly how I came to be interested in such a research), then described the methods I would take on to obtain info on the problem, then I finished it off with a conclusion on future thoughts and how I will benefit from such a project. The thing is I didn’t really discuss something like positive about the UAE. My research was on why diabetes is widespread in the UAE ( which is in fact, a major issue here in Abu dhabi). I talked about it because I’m looking towards a future in healthcare and because I volunteer in a hospital where diabetes is a huge concern. I dunno, is it a good enough topic? Or should I discuss something positive? Sorry for pouring all this out. I’m just so nervous and I feel like nothing’s working outtttt. Thanks so much for ur reply :)

As long as you write about your topic in a way that will showcase your perception of the world and your writing style in general, you should be fine. I personally, being an art student, wrote about art in the middle east and a possible investigation of whether it was linked with a rather differing european art through the trade paths of the silk way. And also be sure to follow the guidelines/questions for this task, like ethical implications. good luck:)

Wow mine sounds like a fifth grade science project compared to yours! Good on you! And thanks for the advice. I think my approach was a little to naive. I might tweak the topic a bit I guess, no time to rethink it completely. :/

do you have to write the essay only if you were not nominated?
