crap. this thread is getting my hopes up that i got accepted…

Honestly at this point all I’m hoping is that Shawn posts something officially saying when we hear back (hopefully the 12th because I’m impatient)

I’ve been stalking this thread for the longest time and finally made an account to ask about the major change. Did anyone else get it? Went from CAS–Journalism to GLSP–The Core Program. Does that mean I was deferred from CAS? I also got the FA change from “No award access available” to the chart with “2016/NYU/No self-service award access aid for this year” Good luck to you all!!!

Someone on the group page mentioned that an admissions officer replied saying that decisions are indeed the 15th. I guess we can still hope for the 12th though and hope they finish applications early.

im definitely like the only one who didnt get an FA change :/

The FA change theory is getting my hopes up & I’m scared ! Lol

Is there any actual proof behind the FA switch theory? Like how do we know about it?

everyone who usually gets the FA change gets in

Do we know of people who never get the FA change? Because at this point it seems like everyone gets it up until admissions decisions, but are there people who get denied and actually never got the FA change? I know I’m playing the devil’s advocate here but I’m trying not to get my hopes up

I don’t want to get my hopes up, they didn’t change stern for me I’m so surprised

@NYUgirl10 I know that’s what everyone’s saying, but how do we know that?

It just kinda feels like a major giveaway for NYU not to have noticed and fixed

@runaway17 i mean looking at college confidential discussions from the years before, it seems like people who had the FA change got in but then again that can be wrong

In previous CC discussions most people with the FA change got in, not all so no one get their hopes up. & that’s true it’s seems a little odd that NYU wouldn’t catch this but my friend thinks it could be true that some of were accepted and the financial aid office got our info and is changing things around on ALBERT (?) either way I’m pretty sure decisions are made and they’re just waiting for the 15th to send out all the notifications

Again, are there people who, as of the notification date, don’t receive the FA change? Because it seems like everyone is getting it at some point or another…

It’s important to note that the software behind Albert is not NYU based, rather it is a universal program created by Oracle. I’m not sure how much control NYU has over the backend of the software even if they were to find out that the FA change was being leaked to applicants. Many other schools use this Oracle system and from my experience (got the change from DePaul, Indiana, and now UMichigan), it means an acceptance. I’ve gotten into DePaul, Indiana, and am waiting on Michigan. Let’s hope it’s true lol!

How many students applied ED1?

I think we have to be careful of generalizing that everyone is getting the FA change because there are literally thousands of applicants to NYU each year. Here on CC, the few of us who keep this board alive are a very, very small representation of that applicant pool. I think it goes without saying that the level of involvement that the members of CC have with their admissions process is generally accompanied by academic excellence and just general initiative, meaning that we are, in all likelihood, among the top applicants to NYU. Therefore it would make sense that the majority of us we would receive the change, whereas there could be literally thousands of people out there–people who are less qualified than we, and who are not on the boards to tell us–who haven’t and won’t receive the change. We should refrain from drawing conclusions about what the change means based on our very small body of representation here on the boards.

That being said, there is still time for the FA changes to come to those who haven’t yet received them. Hopefully there is merit to this FA change theory.

@AlysiaG I read somewhere that it was around 3,400

I just got the change I have both 2015 and 2016 listed on the chart.
