NYU Class of 2019 Discussions ED1

I know its tough but I agree with @hunggngguyen‌, we should all just relax, write some supplements, and watch some Netflix. Worrying about FA changes and minute changes in Albert will only make us more anxious. Definitely easier said than done, but I think we can start by not checking Albert (and CC for that matter) every waking minute. Good luck you guys and I hope we all get in!

I just got the change!!
But, this is making me even more anxious than before

No change :frowning: I’ve come to terms with my rejection by now

@allegrotechie‌ don’t worry. We still have 5 more days! And, it is not 100% proven. let’s hope for the best.

@brosero I applied to CAS for Journalism and now it says GLS, too. I think it’s possible that CAS denied you (us), but GLS is reviewing your application. I’m fine with either; I just hope it means I got in haha

@kkc2015‌ Sigh, I know, whatever. Where else are you applying?

@brosero could yo please ask him about the FA change and its correlation to acceptance/rejection?

@brosero @nyorbust same, but then mine changed back to CAS…maybe it was a glitch? I also got the FA change

Does anyone feel that this year is different? Like Shawn Abbot hasn’t confirmed the day of notifications yet, and there’s less than a week left.

@xim0204‌ Yeah, it does feel a bit odd. I just really want him to update us. I am getting really nervous and I don’t know how I will distract myself for the next coming week.

@girlintheworld‌ I just feel like he would have posted something last week to update everyone and maybe even to reduce the colossal amount of confusion with the date change on Albert. I’m so anxious… Watch a new series on Netflix?

@xim0204‌ Hopefully he will update us before Friday. Yeah, I will probably do that. Netflix is always the best way to go.

Hey guys, NYU freshman here and wanted to check in and wish all of you luck! I was an EDI applicant last year. Nothing is a sure thing but I just wanted to share my experiences from a year ago for people who are curious.

1.) The FA change — Obviously this has been happening for so many years, and last year I did get the FA change. The university has denied multiple times that it has nothing to do with your decision, but people still speculate. I’d say don’t stress too much about it. While the majority of people with the FA change seemed to have gotten in last year and people without the change didn’t, there were a couple of people without the change and got in or with the change and didn’t get in.

2.) School change — I personally have not seen anyone who had a change in the school name got rejected. So if for example “CAS” changed to “Liberal Studies” or some other school, it probably means you got in (to the other school). It’s bittersweet because you didn’t get into the school you applied for but it’s an acceptance! Again, please don’t take my word for it but from personal experience it really seems to be that way.

3.) December 15th — Last year, EDI results came out on a Friday. People started hearing back as soon as midnight if I remember correctly. It started pouring in in waves, from midnight to around 4 AM. These were ALL rejections. So I’m pretty confident in saying that if you make it past the first waves of rejection e-mails, then you’re pretty good. The acceptance letters came in exactly at 3 PM. I remember it came in right after my last period class ended.

Anyway, you never know if their system changes, so please don’t stress out too much! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask and I’ll try to answer as much as I know (hopefully it can help lower your anxiety levels). Again, best of luck and hope to see you all on campus next fall!

how can you see if you have a school change?? I don’t have an application status page anywhere on albert. I don’t think I am doing anything wrong and I have asked several people to help me (including NYU), but could someone please tell me the steps they use to get their application status? thanks!!

@siberian siren thank you, that helped a lot! I’m curious, do you recall if the applicants page on Albert last year ever said your decisions would be released on the Friday (as it did for a while this year)?

@Rahshe‌ Go to albert . nyu . edu then login with your info and it should say Application Status under Admissions. It should be there.

@girlintheworld‌ hmm…yeah i don’t have anything that says “admissions.” This is so weird.
I’m definitely the only one with this problem lol.

Mine just says:

Student Center

Application Center
Undergraduate Application - Internal Transfer
Undergraduate Application - Readmission
Global Programs Application
» Steinhardt Global Application
» Wasserman On-Campus Student Employment Registration
» Academic Calendars
» Tuition & Fee Schedule
» Course Evaluations (CAS, Global Programs, Stern & Steinhardt)
» Registration, Degree Audit & Other Help Guides
