NYU Class of 2019 Discussions ED1

@kkc2015‌ Me!!

Where did you see this change after you submitted your application?

@Hawaiiian2019 the common app decision change?

you see the FA change in Albert

@‌ fromhopetomyhome
under financial aid status

I got he FA change, however i don’t think it means anything. I honestly don’t think I’m going to get in because of my SAT. I’m not trying to get my hopes up, but what proof do you guys have with the correlation between the FA change and acceptance??? i am super nervous now haha.

International here. No FA change, still shows award access not available. Applied to stern, 33 ACT, decent transcript (mostly Bs) but shitty IB predicted, like real shit. 31-31/45 is my guess. No hope :/

Has there been a student that received the FA change but didn’t get in? I sure haven’t haven’t seen any.

I’m pretty skeptical whether the 2016 change is really that good of an indicator… being blunt, my 3.65 UW is a crap GPA for Stern where the average UW GPA is a 3.8+. :-/

@Jarjarbinks23‌ can you find a person that received the FA change last year but didn’t get in?

spongebob123 reported that he didn’t get in after a FA change. But it looks like most of the people who got a FA change got in. Others, just have to wait till decision day!

@kkc2015‌ It’s also worth noting that spongebob123 was an international student and it doesn’t look like the theory works for them.

@rfree18‌ I thought he wasnt an international student.

@girlintheworld‌ I thought I saw someone mention it at some point, but it might have been someone else.

spongebob123 was a domestic applicant. NYUhopeful01 from ED1 2013 was 1/2 international (it was a bit strange that he was considered domestic for app, but international for FA)

Hey if we do get in when would we know of any possible scholarship or prospective financial aid

same day!

You guys think there’s any chance we could get the notification on Friday?

I’ve been lurking this forum and this thread for two weeks now and I’ve got to say my peace. This whole FA change thing seems like complete voodoo. I have received the FA change but lets get real about my chances. I have a 3.1 UW GPA. 3.6 weighted. That is absolute crap. You ostentatious braggadocios on here are probably cringing, I know. I have a 5 on the AP Euro, US, and Lang tests. Pretty good. I have 1980 in one sitting on my SAT. Nothing spectacular for NYU. My ECs are OK, I debated 3 years and qualified for state, I have my own lawn care business. I did work in my school’s broadcast program putting together a news and variety show. I am part of a film making program and have completed a couple short films. I just don’t think my SAT and especially my GPA are strong enough. I applied to NYU for the prestigious film school and I think it is safe to say that it is a reach. This whole FA change theory sounds like complete BS. I have the change but I just don’t think I could have gotten in. If I get in I will renounce and repent to the FA Change Gods and let you all know what happened. I think my Tisch artistic portfolio was really strong. Could the people reviewing that at Tisch have some influence with the regular admissions or do apps only go there after they get through the regular admissions people? Could that give me a bump? God I hope so… Long story short, five days out and I’m in mother f****** crisis mode.

@FredDobbs I hear you. To be blunt, I did cringe at your 3.1 UW GPA… but who wouldn’t? At the same time, I’m sure many CC’ers will cringe at my 3.65 UW GPA. People with 3.9-4.0 GPAs are truly freaks of nature.

In any case your AP Scores are impressive… 3 5’s is pretty unexpected for that GPA.

And regarding Tisch, they do a 50/50 with your admissions… essentially half of your profile will be determined by how impressive your art/media portfolio is.

So you may have been admitted due to your strong art presentation.
