@FredDobbs, I’m emerging from lurking to reply to this. NYU is secretive about how the whole Tisch vs. NYU thing works, but other schools are much more open about their process and NYU might do the same thing. If NYU does do what other schools, such as USC and UMich do, Tisch actually sees our apps first and decides who gets in almost entirely based on artistic portfolio. They then send their decisions onto NYU admissions, who only overturn them if they’re really worried about something. 3.1 and 1980 aren’t great for NYU, but they’re not bad enough to make them reject who Tisch tells them to accept. I’m also a Tisch applicant with a 3.4, and I got the FA change and think I have a decent shot.

I could be totally wrong about how this process works, and we may both be rejects, but it’s all a toss-up at this point.

@freddobbs I’m not sure gpa is so black and white - what’s your course load like, and how rigorous is your school? I’d say you sound like neither a definitive accept or reject, so it’s possible you were passed on to be reviewed by the artistic reviewers

Also, I know admissions have probably gotten more selective since 4 years ago, but fwiw my brother got into nyu with a similar gpa

Thanks for the responses. I really just needed to vent. I feel like my head’s in a better place now. I guarantee that I was the only one getting fives on AP tests at the end of the year as well as fighting for a B in the class on final day simply to make up for all the homework I didn’t turn in. I would say I wish I could turn back the clock and do it better but I know myself too well for that… I probably wouldn’t do anything different. I just wasn’t that kind of student. I wish you all the best and I hope this FA change theory works out.

hellooooo
i know this is late in the game but i had a questionn
im really hoping its a glitch but in albert on nyuhome under “notification plan” it says regular decision for me even though i applied early decision I…
did anyone else have this issue and was it resolved?
thanks!!

Does it mean that you’re deferred? Not sure though!
Or, it may be a glitch. check last year’s ED threads. I remember seeing something like this.

wait can you be deferred ED? i thought it was accept/deny only
but omg i sure hope its a glitch !
thank you!! ill def be reading last years threads

If you applied for CAS but are placed into GLSP, is your acceptance still binding? I thought I read somewhere that if you weren’t accepted into your first choice program, NYU would allow you to release your ED1 agreement. Is this correct or am I imagining things now?

Also, if my Albert status says GLSP, does this really automatically mean that I have been 100% deferred from CAS and am only being considered for GLSP?

@silverkey3564 I think that all it proves that if you didn’t get the change, you still have a chance, it is not 100% that you are rejected. But it doesn’t disprove that if you got it, you are probably in. We still have 4 days left for anyone else to get the change, it can happen any second.
