I just started crying at the thought of having to take calculus again in college because of the stupid liberal studies program.
I was accepted into the NYU Tisch School of Arts for Video games I believe. While I am excited to have been accepted, I received $0 in aid in the form of scholarships, grants, or other aid from the university directly. Instead, they proposed large loan amounts in the Parent PLUS loans which I know my parents wouldn’t qualify for (unfortunate).
Minnesota
ACT: 29 (woops…)
UW GPA: 3.96
Essay: Really good I think?
Recommendations: Really good I think?
Supplement: Not sure how I did to be honest, but I think it was probably weaker than others.
I am more considering USC at this point. Good luck to everyone else!
did you receive your email now?
Accepted into LS Core program
It says I’m expected to spend my first year in London, does anyone know if its possible to switch into the NY campus?? id rather spend my sophomore year abroad instead. I emailed the admissions office but was wondering if i could get a faster answer on here
I got in! Accepted to the school of arts and sciences. The financial aid was kind of crappy and I’m not sure what campus I got into yet, but I will probably go out to tour and see what it’s like. Most likely not going though because j got into Dartmouth!
What does the liberal studies program mean? Does it mean you are not qualified to get in right away?
@human100emoji Not at all. It’s just a different program.
Why is it that LS students get a significantly lower amount in scholarship as opposed to CAS students?
@human100emoji this is what the website says, but i think that it does mean i wasn’t good enough to get into cas
The admissions committee selects applicants for the Core Program who would thrive in an interdisciplinary curriculum with small, seminar-style classes where students are actively expected to engage in classroom discussion. Selected students may or may not have expressed an interest in a specific major or another school or college on their application for admission. The admissions committee, however, believes selected students would benefit from exploring the liberal arts at NYU and completing their general education requirements through the Core Program before committing to a major, minor, double-major, etc.
The adcom chooses students for LS based on if they think they would be a better fit for the program. My stats were up there with other people who got into CAS, but the adcom put me in LS because of my experience/success with the IB programme and my global experience. Being put into LS does not mean you weren’t good enough or not qualified. If you weren’t good enough for NYU, you would’ve been denied.
The liberal studies program is completely wrong for me. I have taken AP and college classes my whole high school career in preparation for college in the hopes of earning college credit. I did this because my top choice was NYU and I knew it was expensive, so I thought I could get some gen ed credits done by taking APs and hopefully graduate in three years to save money. The liberal studies program will not accept AP credit and I will be taking general education classes for two years–exactly what I did not want to do. And I won’t even be able to start my major until junior year. If they chose me for the program because they thought it was the right fit for me, they obviously did not look at my application thoroughly enough. I am honored to be accepted but this is a real bummer.
accepted to tandon but no money no college
byebye nyu. at least I was pleased jajaja
My S got accepted in Tandon School of Engineering. We want to attend an accepted student event and on an NYU website it shows Apr 8 as an event day for Tandon School of Engineering. However, when my s logged on using his NYU ID and tried to RSVP to that event, it does not show on the event calendar. Can someone offer help. Apr 8 is a good day for us because my S is having his spring break that week. We’re from CA.
Accepted!
@mt72323 LS does accept AP credit. You only take gen ed courses your first year, but my friends in CAS are also taking gen ed courses this year. You would actually start taking courses for your major your second year. I know being rejected from your first choice and put in LSP is annoying and there’s not much information out there, but trust me when I say that you should think about it. I would be more than willing to talk things over with you and provide you with all the information the academic advisors give us. Don’t give up on your top school because of some misconceptions about a program. Obviously, if you don’t think LS is a good fit for you then it is what it is, but it’s hard to make that distinction when you don’t have all the information.
I just got the same thing, the $56k tandon scholarship, is that scholarship renewable per year and how much would it cover off of tuition if I’m not Dorming
Accepted to CAS with a generous scholarship of $1,000… LOL. Think I’ll head to GW where I got into the competitive International Relations program with 20k in merit. Congrats to everyone who got in!
@danielbond305 Can you invite me? Stern. Thanks
Accepted into Tisch today for Drama… this is my dream school and i am shocked and soooo excited!!!
is there an accepted students thread?
