******NYU Class of 2020 RD Discussion******

Does anyone know if the scholarships are renewable based on GPA? Like, do you have to maintain certain grades to keep the scholarship?

@sungjong YOOO im pretty sure i saw you on the Gtown thread…howd ya do :open_mouth:

I am an international student so I did not apply fafsa or css. Maybe I shouldve applied css. But I knew NYU was need-aware for international students, so I chose not to. I’m just wondering if I can find ways to lessen my tuition and expense cost throughout my sophomore, junior and senior years. Tuition and expenses will only go higher and I dont want to give that burden onto my parents. At the same time, I reaaaaallly wanna go to NYU. I understand I wasnt given scholarship, I mean look at my GPA. @shivaya

@“Mrs Madesclaire” ok so you have to send the fafsa/css profile every year so you can get financial aid next year, but tbh if you did not meet the deadline for the fafsa/css profile i do not think you can get aid for this year. I do think all international students should submit their fafsa unless they’re wealthy because obviously you have to move out of the country to New York for schooling.

@Sassygogo got rejected from gtown :stuck_out_tongue: was a bit bummed about it at first but i’m really pumped for nyu now ;u;

@sungjong Don’t worry Kpopper…i got axed too :slight_smile:

does anyone know how much we need to deposit for enrolment?

@Sassygogo ahhh the admissions process makes everyone so anxious but i’m happy for now ;u; pats pats we’re in this together

@balimarpy $500

Right now I’m stuck between NYU and UW and idk what to dooooo. NYU is so expensive but I wanna go east. :^(

I want to commit to NYU so badly but I don’t know if I can justify the cost. Ugh.

@Mrs Madesclaire : I honestly get what you mean. I didn’t apply for aid simply because NYU is NEED AWARE when it comes to giving aid to international students. That being said, it is possible for Returning Undergraduates to receive aid ( according to their website. i’ll link you to the page if you want). If NYU is the only place for you, and you can fund your first year of study, it is possible for you to get aid as a returning undergraduate. Hope I helped! :slight_smile:

Turning down nyu for cmu bc bitch do you think i swim in money :))

How difficult is it to transfer into NYU? I really don’t think I can afford it at this time… I hate to turn down one of my original dream schools because of money. Can I defer my enrollment and go to CC? How does that even work?

@lanouvellevague That sounds amazing! I was almost losing hope. I can feel that NYU is were I belong but it came down to 1. Do I think of myself and go to NYU or 2. Do I think of my family and attend a cheaper university. Maybe I can do best of both worlds now. Hopefully. If it isnt trouble, please link me the address. :slight_smile:

Are all decisions out?

I thought they released them all on the same day? Unless you were waitlisted?

All decisions are out on the same day including waitlists.

If I’m accepted into CAS for East Asian Studies, is that final? i.e. is that set as my major or was that more for NYU to gauge numbers? The CommonApp question was:
“Within the schools, colleges, and programs above, NYU offers more than 200 areas of study. What is your anticipated area of study?”
So I kind of chose something that went well with my essay because I was still undecided. But once I was accepted, on the Albert page in ‘Application Status’ under ‘Description’ it says ‘East Asian Studies’.
PLEASE HELP! (Sorry if this is a silly question btw)

@cleopatra7 : it is possible to transfer to NYU. However, the acceptance rate for transfers depends on the school you’re transferring to (eg. tisch, stern, cas, etc.). So you can do your freshman year at CC and then transfer to NYU.

Another option is deferring your enrolment. But you cannot attend/apply to any other college during your gap year. You must legally agree to attend NYU in Fall 2017.

Hope I helped :slight_smile:
