******NYU Class of 2020 RD Discussion******

@cleopatra7th ^^ I tagged someone else by mistake and I can’t seem to edit it :stuck_out_tongue:

has anyone received instructions on how to set up their NYU email yet? I just submitted my SIR

@lanouvellevague thank you!!!

I want to commit but am still torn between nyu stern, georgetown and brown ahhhhh

@kittykatz - you need to go to home.ny.edu to setup your NYU email.

Just came back from a student reception for admitted students. Feeling very lucky to have been accepted to Stern knowing that this year NYU received the highest # of applications ever: 63,000. This is the highest number of applications any school has received in the US (for undergrad). WOW!

Anyone stuck deciding because of financial aid? Honestly, I’m surprised NYU isn’t as expensive as I thought, but I’m still unsure compared to my other options.

@shivaya, I highly doubt that 63,000 apps is the highest received by any undergraduate school in the US. UCLA usually takes that honor, well exceeding 100,000 apps each year. It is possibly the most apps received by any private university, however. That could be true.

I was accepted under the Core Program and I was wondering if I should still go. I got a scholarship of 30,000 which puts a good dent in the tuition but I’m reading more and more about unhappy freshmen that can’t seem to find friends at NYU. I’m a shy person naturally and it really worries me that I might feel alone at this school. Paired with the fact that I’ll be 120,000 in debt after all my grants and scholarships in four years and I won’t be in my major for for the first two. Any advice?

@JassMM I got in the core program too with an ok amount of fa compared to most of my friends. It wasn’t my first choice (applied for ir at CAS) but from what I hear, people in the core program are pretty close knit because of the smaller class sizes, and while it’s easy to feel lost and alone in a place like nyc, it’ll be hard not to meet some people like you. I’m pretty introverted myself, I haven’t totally made up my mind yet, but I hear the core program is pretty relaxed so it would be possible to have a part time job on the side while balancing schoolwork to help with the tuition. Also, the core program emphasizes things like self discoveryand gives its students a ton of chances to go out and explore the city, it seems made for people like me who still don’t know exactly what they are looking to do after college. Maybe I’ll see you there

Got accepted into Steinhardt for Global Public Health; my full need was met and my COA is 95% accounted for.

Can anyone help me please? I sent the deposit exactly one week ago, but there hasn’t been any emails or notifications about it arriving there ~ is this normal? It also says that after you pay the deposit, you will be told how to create the email. Is this true or do I need to set it up myself on home or albert or something?

Thanks in advance guys

You should have gotten confirmation about the payment. If you paid $1500 for admission and housing, the website will automatically take you to the housing link.

But if you did not, then you need to setup your email, etc and then access the housing link to request for housing.

From the many calls that I have made, you may expect to see everything to start moving after May 1. NYU isn’t sure who is coming and who isn’t.

@shivaya how to setup the email?

Thanks for answering!

go to home.nyu.edu. Use your netID login and you can set it all up. Also, if you click on “preferences” you can enable the different topics you want to see - like Housing.

@MamaDeer everything you just wrote is sent to the Undergraduate Admissions office, Tisch doesn’t care about them much. What determines his scholarship is a combination of all that academic stuff and his portfolio. Tisch Film & TV is a top tier program and everyone who is accepted has an amazing portfolio + good academics. He would have to have an exceptional portfolio to get a grant.

@woodenplank Thank you for that info! We are grateful for his opportunity to attend Tisch for Film and TV, even without a scholarship or grant.

I sent in my deposit a few hours ago but I haven’t gotten any email instructions. Do they come via email or do I set it up myself? Because when I tried what @shivaya suggested, I logged in just fine but couldn’t do anything from the menu. Preferences had my “nyu email” as “unavailable”. If anyone could help, that would be great

You have to wait a few days, patiently.

how do you know if you’re enrolled for sure? If I’ve sent my deposit and all of that, is this an indication of it? sorry if it seems like a silly question, just want to make sure
