*****NYU Early Decision 2 Class of 2020 Discussion*****

@collegesaywht123 All decisions at 5pm EST

@barcodeIlIl i would still die if i got into LSP i dont care LOL im happy either way

@pizzaandpeonies Oh I didn’t mean it like that, as in I don’t really want to go to NYU as much anymore(would be more than happy going still, its just that there are better options for me now). Only way to get out of the ED contract at this point would be either LSP or reject.

@barcodeIlIl seriously? do you prefer u of m?

Alright, thanks! @renegade23

@pizzaandpeonies Well I thought about the two for a very long time. In the end I decided that I’d prefer mich 70% of the time and NYU 30% of the time. NYU should be better for where I plan on going in the future, but I’d rather spend 4 years at mich and of course, there isn’t any way I’ll be able to repeat these 4 years of college. I’ll try my best to leave mich behind though if I get accepted by NYU. If I was 100% dead set that Mich would always be better than NYU, then I wouldn’t have applied ED II to NYU in the first place.

@barcodeIlIl are you from michigan? because i really don’t understand how someone would rather spend four years here than NYC ahahah

Have you been accepted anywhere else? @pizzaandpeonies

@pizzaandpeonies No, I’m from NJ. I’ve been to NYC so much and I can’t even count the amount of train and subway rides I’ve taken to and in NYC on even 20 hands. I even had an internship over last summer that I’ll be continuing in a few weeks and going through this summer. If I go to NYU it will extend throughout the school year too. I said in a previous post that I’ll never stop being amazed by NYC, but it’ll be nice to have a change of environment. I loved ann arbor and the michigan environment when I visited and it’ll be something I’ll never have the chance to experience again. I plan to stay in NYC after NYU for my career, life might take me other places, but for now NYC is the plan.

think you can call NYU and ask to be placed in RD pool instead

@BestRivenNA Already did that, they said they can’t since decisions have already been made.

@barcodeIlIl Did you give them your name when you called?

@collegesaywht123 yeah i have like 2 other back ups

@desie1 No, but I also sent an email to my admissions officer who replied in the same way.

@barcodeIlIl yeah, i get that. aa is a nice area and i love it but for me, nyc cannot be compared to it. we’re in flipped situations lol

@barcodeIlIl That’s interesting…so your admission officer is now 100% sure that you are no longer committed to NYU - I mean you are still committed per the contract, but they are fully aware that you were having second thoughts. When did you email them that? They might not accept you now anyway if they have time to pull your file. I haven’t been following this whole thread - were you already admitted into Michigan?

@desie1 I emailed my admissions officer last night and got a reply about 2 hours ago. To my knowledge, they are completely done with their admissions process, so it isn’t like they’ll change my decision, and even so, I’ll be okay with getting rejected by NYU right now. I was admitted to Mich last Friday.

@barcodeIlIl I once heard something like this happen at another school, and the family believes they changed the decision to “waitlist” at the last minute. Nobody wants a student at a school that doesn’t want to be there. I think if there is ANY way NYU can change the decision at this late date, they will. (hard to do when they have so many kids - so busy - big university) Curious to see what happens. Good luck! You really can’t go wrong either way! (just so you know, I don’t think your admissions officer is too pleased with you right now)

@desie1 Well, I am okay with that. If they choose to waitlist me at the last moment it is pretty much what I wanted anyways(a way to get out of my ED agreement). Just making sure, if they do waitlist me then I am no longer bound by the ED agreement right?

That brings me to another question, if you get accepted ED and you choose to not go at all, to any college, because either you want to skip a year or you started a multi-million dollar company, are you still forced to attend?
