@closavia No but if you want to attend another college the next year you have to re-apply with different essays/new recs, unless you apply as a gap year student.
@closavia
To my knowledge, if you don’t go to college at all, you don’t have to attend. The ED agreement only restricts you from attending other colleges once admitted. I think its legitimate period is only a year.
How does the ED agreement thing work if they don’t give you enough financial aid?

Misinfo, deleted.
@Chalamagne916 Please do not spread misinformation. That isn’t close at all. If you can’t afford after proving it, you are allowed to back out of the ED agreement and attend any other school. Additionally, the ED agreement isn’t some legally binding contract. They can’t drag you to the college (if you can afford it). Sure they can blacklist you and at peer schools, but you aren’t facing a multi-million dollar lawsuit by not going.
@renegade23
R you sure we can withdraw the ED agreement and attend others? I don’t think so. If so, the legitimacy of this agreement doesn’t exist at all.
@Chalamagne916 yes, you can back out of an ED agreement if you show proof that you cannot afford it. they clearly state that on the ED agreement that we all signed.
@Chalamagne916 You can only withdraw if you cannot afford it and can show you can’t afford it. Check here: https://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/apply/freshmen-applicants.html
I don’t know if this is relatable, but a few years ago a kid from my school decided to ED two different schools (don’t ask me how because I don’t know how he did this) and he ended up being accepted into both. Soon, both schools found out and my ex school counselor and he got into biiiiiiigg trouble and was eventually rejected from both. I don’t know if he ended up going to college…
I applied RD and my housing status changed from non-renewable undergraduate for both spring and fall to no application available for spring and stayed as non-renewable undergraduate for fall.
Anyone know what usually happened to past applicants who got this?
@RSalvatierra What two schools did he ed for.
@Chalamagne916 yes you can. I know people that have. I’m sorry but this entire thread needs to stop talking like they know what they’re talking about when they don’t. You guys spread so much misinformation
@jenmejli i wouldn’t worry about housing changes anymore
The reason I asked was that I noticed on Common App that today was the day NYU downloaded my midyear report AND the day my housing status changed.
Coincidence? Perhaps.
@booyakah no idea I was in 9th grade back then lol
Can’t believe it’s almost February 15th allready… Deja vu to December 15th, not good…
@barcodeIlIl If you aren’t accepted, you are out of the ED agreement.
@jenmejli
It is coincidence. Mine changed on the 6th. Mid year report was downloaded on the 18th of Jan.
This might sound like a dumb question, but is the FAFSA form mandatory if I don’t want financial aid because in one of the emails that was sent to me, it said, “The FAFSA is required for applicants who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and are applying to our campuses in New York or Shanghai”? I don’t need financial aid, but I don’t know whether or not I still need to fill out this form.
@booyakah i don’t think so but i also wondered the same thing with the email. i think they meant that if you’re applying for FA, then the FAFSA is required if youre a US resident in addition to CSS
