********NYU ED Class of 2020 Discussion**********

@mbaker22 To be honest I wouldn’t even try to continue searching for an answer to your theory, or even worry about the housing change. There’s so many different variables in the housing change compared to last time that it may not even be accurate anymore.

There’s nothing you can do to affect your decision – either you will be accepted or not. Finding out early won’t change the outcome in any way, and since it’s impossible to truly find out beforehand, searching just adds to people’s anxiety. Just calm down and enjoy your senior year of high school! There’s no need to think about your application again until around 4:55PM on Feb 15 when you’re aggressively refreshing your Albert account for the decision. Remember that even though people may have better grades than you and get these alleged indicators, CC is pretty much only filled with people obsessed with schools. Even though NYUs acceptance rate is around 33%, well over 50% of people get accepted every year on this website. Comparing yourself to others won’t get you very far in life.

@scoobysnacks56
It means probably you are admitted.
Mine changed as well before the decision released and I was admitted to NYU ED I.

Non-renewable mostly means that you are rejected even if you can continue to fill out the form 'cause there’ll be a step that you cannot fill out. My classmate was rejected during ED I so I knew it. I was admitted to ED I and mine changed to freshman in NYC. I could fill out the form as well and I could fill out the step which he could not before the decision released.

Therefore, maybe it’s true.
Freshman=admitted
Non-renewable=rejected

Um, so, when I press the NYU Housing Application I have the choice to access application as a freshman under ‘‘Fall in New York City’’ and if I press on it, I am sent to a NYU Housing portal with information to fill. Is this the housing change y’all talking about? Should I extrapolate and say this is good news?

Does anyone know if the housing change happens if you were rejected for your first choice but accepted to your second choice?

Can you guys chance me for NYU stern
It is my dream school

GPA- 3.5 (90.33) Did poorly during my sophomore year but for my junior and

@curryyyy yes, I know someone who apply for CAS ended up in LSP which is her second choice and got housing change the night before ED1decision came out

@kker98

Ok, I applied to Stern as my first choice and CAS as my second choice. Right now my housing application says “Non-Renewable Undergraduate”, which according to @shermanz means I was rejected. Do you think that means I was rejected from Stern (which I expected), but could still be accepted to CAS?

@dehca2016 I don’t really know… But my friend applied for stern with a relatively low sat score and chose CAS for her second choice and she got the hosting change, I think she’s rejected from stern and accepted to CAS. But there are still two weeks left for them to make the decision so don’t worry

How do you check the housing change?

https://housing.nyu.edu/apply Housing change constitutes as having Freshman in Fall Tab. If it says Non-Renewable Undergraduate, it isn’t changed.

@dehca2016 having Non-Renewable Undergrad does NOT mean you’ve been rejected at all! You just haven’t received the housing change, which could happen anytime from now to the day before decisions are officially out.

@trign0metry

Alright good! I thought I had good enough stats for CAS, so that was a bit of a shock. Back to not worrying.

There’re still two weeks. Maybe the housing status is still changing. If you didn’t get a change now, probably you may get one in a few days. I checked the status two days before the result released so I only knew the bug was right just before the decision and I don’t know how it was several weeks ago.

@ollehih Are you sure the link you provided is recent? The last time I checked the school wasn’t even “Poly” anymore, and the name Forbes provided (Polytechnic Institute of NYU) was during the time these two institutions were partially merged (2008-2014). The admit rate most likely changed after the merge. I’m not trying to freak out people applying to Tandon, but just saying, it’s outdated info.

I got accepted to Tandon EDI, and I can assure you my grades aren’t as good as those you see in CC. Tandon is pretty accepting :wink:

Checked and got the housing change today, but today was the first time I checked housing in the last week. I don’t know exactly when it changed for me, but it changed within the last week. I’m probably pulling this out of nothing, but I should be in CAS econ and not LSP then right since they made the decision(supposedly)over 2 weeks before the decision day.

Not gonna post my stats on this thread, but to summarize, its in the probably not good enough for Stern but a good amount above average for CAS except for GPA which might be just around average for CAS(90 weighted with rigorous course schedule over first 3 years).

They saw my 1st marking period grades for this year…which were amazing compared to my previous years. 4 of the most rigorous APs with a 92 unweighted and 94 weighted GPA.

My 1st semester overall is the same average as my 1st marking period for unweighted and weighted, but considering my school just sent them my 1st semester transcript on thursday/friday, I don’t think NYU looked at that.

I read that some people who got put in LSP expressed a lot of interest in international issues and such, which I kind of did in my essays. If I have to I might take LSP, but I really don’t want to.

Do they put you into LSP even if you only applied to one school (not LSP) and didn’t apply for any other campuses or schools?

@barcodeIlIl I applied for CAS econ too and I got the housing change but still worry about they might put me in LSP even though I didn’t put it as my alternative choices… But hopefully like u said, since they made the decision 2 weeks before the decision day, I should be accepted by my first choice

@renegade23 They do… I knew one person who applied for CAS and didn’t choose LSP as second choice bu ended up got offer from LSP

@kker98 Do they do that for a lot of people? Does the fact that we have the change so early indicate we likely got out first choice?

That’s actually pretty low of them to offer admission to a school that one doesn’t even indicate interest in, especially in a binding decision round.
