********NYU ED Class of 2020 Discussion**********

@stehyh No problem, I’ll try to give you an idea of what I know, but FA is something that is mixed across the board, especially in NYU. NYU is notorious for having bad FA, but I do know several who are on FA, most of my roommates are. I myself am not on FA, so I’m doing a lot of outside scholarships and working part-time.

I’ve heard that NYU gives merit scholarships based on how much they want you, but I’m not sure true that is. I do know many of the NYU scholarships are need-based so the net price calculator gives you a pretty good idea of your range.

Something to keep in mind is that the actual tuition of NYU is not far from the average of the top 30 schools (USNews, exception of public/state universities), but room/board is what typically costs a lot. There is “cheaper" rooming in Rubin Hall among freshmen dorms, but it gets a bad rap because it has no air conditioning (not bad in winter, but sweltering in the early months). I believe it is still more expensive that say Columbia or Barnard’s dorming (who are both in Manhattan as well, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong), but it is an option for a lot of students.

Does Stern, or NYU in general, put the greatest weight on the 1600 sat score (CR+math)? Because on Stern’s website, they report averages out of 1600…

This will put you at ease for anyone applying to Tandon. 68% acceptance rate so chances are you’ll be accepted.

Hi everyone! I applied to Steinhardt MCC and got a mail saying that while they could not grant me admission right now, they have decided to defer me to the Early Decision II round. Now, I know NYU doesn’t defer (under normal circumstances) so I was confused about this. Did this happen to anyone else? What do you think this means?

Guys, there is something worth of sharing here and I WOULD LOVE EVERYBODY WHO HAS ANY CONSPIRACIES TO READ IT.

I applied to NYU for Fall 2016 AGAIN, because last year I was rejected. I applied this time for ED2, and I was assigned to the same netid and so on. Obviously, I have not gotten yet any emails or anything, because they are expected in a month or longer. I will be most likely rejected (I know it because of my stats).

Today, I have realised that I am able to log in into NYUHousing, also submit an application for Fall 2016-17 and fill up all those informations about roommates etc. I have no idea why do I have an access to this, but of what I have heard, only people who accept their admission can access it. My status is non-renewable undergraduate. I do not know what should I think about it.

@classlena, I applied for Stern ED and I was rejected. The night before, my housing was also non-renewable undergrad and I could also fill the form out. Hopefully your case will be different!!!

What is your score without superscoring? I think NYU I doesn’t take superscore for act

NYU does take a superscore of ACT. @kker98

when did the people who got the FA change see it? How many days before your acceptance did it pop up?

@classlena It doesn’t recombine your score to form a new one. It only does that for SAT so technically that’s not superscore… But NYU does review your section scores. I submitted the ACT so trust me I want them to superscore too but they really don’t.

@runner625 It appeared 3-4 weeks before decisions were released but was fixed about 2 weeks prior.

@SternFinance2020 So it might not even show up for us? I thought it was a reoccurring thing for the last few years?

@renegade23 As far as I know, it has been consistently appearing and remaining every year besides this one. Maybe NYU finally found a way to fix it, or maybe it might return. The whole concept of finding out if you’ve been accepted before official decisions come out is very sketchy to say the least, so it’s difficult to predict what will happen even if we do assume the FA/Housing change means acceptance.

Has anyone given the interview for NYU Shanghai ED2? What questions do they usually ask?

HI GUYS I GOT THIS CHANGE http://postimg.org/image/enwypmn3f/ WHAT DOES THIS MEAN???

I got accepted to CAS

SAT: 2210 (CR:800 W:760 M:650)

GPA: 3.4

Exc: Volunteer at Boys and Girls Club, Volunteered at POST, entered short story contest, Took Philosophy Course at local community college over summer, took online Yale philosophy course

My low GPA was due to severe illness, which I thoroughly explained in one of my essays.

.

@scoobysnacks56 That’s the housing change people have been talking about. I got that change about four days before decisions were released, and apparently there is a strong coorelation between recieving the housing change and being accpeted.

Hey guys, do you know if there is a way to change the admissions plan from Early decision to RD??

Did anyone in this thread request to have their noncustodial profile waived? I am looking for some information regarding financial aid’s connection to admissions.
