********NYU ED Class of 2020 Discussion**********

@ferrarivettel I didn’t get the FA change and I got in. Furthermore, there are people who got the FA change but were not admitted. The FA change as stated many times by NYU representatives and in their blog is not at all a good factor to consider.

Does anyone else have the “2017 - Award Access Not Available” on their financial aid award summary on Albert? And is there any idea of when the FA will be released?

@Ahlesaadat well I would say you missed the first wave or you missed to small second FA Change windows. I’ve seen people who had the change got rejected before, but only international students.

And of course NYU would deny it, I wouldn’t imagine them saying: “Hey applicants, it is truly a glitch on our side, so do check your Albert everyday!”

I guess it’s just contradicting opinions, but I’m still quite certain that the FA Change and Housing Change means something, at least for domestic applicants :smiley: happy holidays and looking forward to seeing you in NYC.

Does anyone know when the FA awards will be posted? I really need to know, because it’s really important that I need to know the FA amount. On Albert, it says that I have the CSS Noncustodial Parent Profile missing on my application. The problem is that my dad left me a very long time ago, and I have no type of contact information from him. I don’t know where he lives, frankly I don’t even know if he’s alive anymore. I will be filing the FAFSA as soon as it is available. Is NYU just waiting on the FAFSA, or are they waiting on me to submit the Noncustodial Profile that I can’t submit?

@ferrarivettel

Yeah, perhaps you are right. Hope to see you soon too! :smiley:

this might be a stupid question, but does anyone else have the same two options(accept/decline) even after paying deposit and everything? is it supposed to be like this? because i was expecting it to change to “accepted offer” or something

@MyNameIsJeff1 It’s a glitch in their system. They even sent an email about it. Don’t worry.

thanks!

I’ve already submitted my enrollment fee and housing deposit, but Albert is still prompting me to do so. I know the website is notoriously poorly designed, but do you guys think this is a design flaw or that my deposits never went through? I have not received any confirmation email, but that might be because of winter break.

Could someone chance me for Stern ED2? Any type of comment is welcome!

SAT: Did not Submit (Opted for the 3 SAT Subject test option. Didn’t feel like my SAT score was good enough)

GPA: 3.76 UW (my school doesn’t weigh)

Sat Subject Test: 730 Math 1, 600 US History, 800 Spanish

Toefl: 105/120

Class Rank: 7/42 (Pretty tough class. My class already has an acceptance from Princeton, Duke, Northwestern and in this round probably Harvard, Wharton, Notre Dame, and Brown. Last year, a senior got accepted into Stern so a lot of top-tier universities accept students from my school).

I have taken 7 AP courses but didn’t submit any scores. Took almost every AP my school has to offer.
AP World History in 10th
AP Spanish Lang and AP U.S. History in 11th
Currently taking AP Calc AB, AP Psychology, AP English Lit, and AP Spanish Lit in my senior year.

Did not ask for financial aid.

Acceptances: I only applied early action to Northeastern, Fordham, and University of Miami. I got accepted into Northeastern and Fordham and I will not be hearing from UM until February. Applied ED to Cornell but that didn’t go as planned.

I am an international student from Bolivia, South America. Let’s say you had to chance me solely based on these facts. Imagine that my EC’S, recommendations, and both the common app and the supplementary essays are just what Stern looks for (they look pretty good to me). Do you think I could make the cut? Thank you very much!

Also, I have read from previous year’s posts that the requirements are, ''Three SAT II Subject Test scores (one in literature or the humanities, one in math or science, and one non-language test of the student’s choice). I took US History (Humanities), Math level 1 (math), and Spanish (my choice). I am a native Spanish speaker though…

However, in this year’s NYU webpage under the standardizes testing policy, this appears:

Students who submit SAT Subject Test, AP, or IB scores (for students not submitting an IB Diploma) must submit:

One literature or humanities score;
One math or science score;
And a score from one test of the student’s choice in any subject.

As you can see, nothing related to non-language appears as for the third subject exam. Do you think that it should be implied that I shouldn’t have taken Spanish? Will it hurt my admission decision? I mean, when I registered for these exams, the word ‘‘non-language’’ didn’t appear so I thought I was allowed to take any exam of my choice, including Spanish. It seams as if they took it down this year or something… I know there is nothing I can do about it now but I just don’t want to keep banging my head against the wall over this, specially if I didn’t submit the normal SAT. Thank you, and please, any type of comment/critic/opinion is welcome. This is the standardizes tests policy webpage if you want to check it out: http://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/apply/freshmen-applicants/instructions/standardized-tests.html

@RSalvatierra I think your GPA is a little bit low for stern also your subject test scores aren’t hot either. A 600 in U.S history is about 50% percentile which means half of the people who took the test score higher than you. If you are from Bolivia I assume your first language is Spanish? so taking the sat2 for Spanish only show college that you kind of take the easy way out. Stern is really selective especially for international students. Unless you have strong extracurricular and essays I think you should apply for a second choice just in case

Tischie, sternie…cute

I’m high-school graduation class of 2021 so if I get accepted to Tisch in 2021 then I’ll be class of 2025 or 2024!!!

@pixiehollow1 why on earth are you already on CC? go enjoy your youth!

@pixiehollow1 Leave CC, it will suck out all the liveliness you have in you. It will make you weep in agony. Leave this hell while you can.

@pixiehollow1 I would leave CC, if I were you… go enjoy Middle school (?)…

Major: Global Public Health Anthropologie
ACT: 31 superscore (English: 34, Math: 27, Reading: 36, Science: 25)
AP: Psychology (Got a 5 on the AP test), Comp Govt/US Politics (taking both AP tests in May), Biology, Statistics, French
GPA: 4.00 W/3.76 W
Rank: Top 12% of class
High School: 296 kids in my class, catholic school

Extracurriculars: President of south asian club, played water polo and swimming for 4-3 years, Member of NHS, over 400 hours of voluteering (elderly homes, underprivileged youth, children with disabilities) volunteered in sri lanka every summer at orphanages and refugee camps. researcher for women’s rights at Cal.

Essays: Common App: really good and well edited and powerful, Supplement: Not my best work, but hopefully impactful
Reccomendations: hopefully good!

My weakness is definitely my mid-year report, I got B+'s in 3/4 of the AP’s im taking this year, so that might hinder my chances. But otherwise? How is it looking?

Hey there, a current NYU freshman here, just wanted to wish you guys the best of luck. I know some of you just turned in applications this past month, so if you guys have any questions about NYU itself, feel free to PM me. I’ll try and drop back in here as well. I’m in CAS, but I have roommates in both Tisch and Stern so I can help out a little bit there. So take a deep breath, relax, and congrats–you made it through (most of not all for rolling) college applications!

@Calific Hey there! I was wondering what the chances of receiving FA/scholarships are? Do you think there is a general standard or criteria? and thanks for reaching out to current applicants :slight_smile:
