********NYU ED Class of 2020 Discussion**********

@Collegegal06, I got my FA change on Nov 24 (submitted CSS profile).

@stern2020 I got the FA change as well (submitted CSS profile) but on my to-do list, CSS profile has not been marked as received, only FAFSA. On your to-do list, is your CSS profile marked as received?

I didn’t apply for FA.

@oath2nyc, my to-do list marked CSS profile as received. FAFSA is not even due though.
@collegeJerome , I don’t think anyone without CSS submission has got the FA change yet. The second wave will start soon? I noticed that the majority of NYU ED2 class of 2019 received their FA change fifteen days before the D day. Only a small percent of people received the change 20 days before.

Chance Me

Applied to CAS

I know I probably have some of the lower stats compared to the rest of everyone whose posted but here we go.

UW GPA: 3.63 W: 4.043

SAT: 1860 (I know :/)

Extra curriculars include:
-President and founder of my school’s Political Discussion Club (Facilitated and created political debates and discussions once a week after school)
-Freshman orientation leader
-Black belt in Kung Fu and volunteer assistant
-Writing tutor
-Poetry Out Loud finalist in my school
-Member of class council and student government
-Editor for school newspaper
-Tri-lingual (not sure if that actually matters)
-Member of National Honor Society

I began freshman year with all basic classes. Sophomore year I moved to almost all honors classes, and in Junior year, it was all honors and two AP’s. Coming into senior year, I am enrolled in 4 AP’s (including AP Spanish) and all honors. (6 AP’s in total)

I am a Hispanic male from a pretty rigorous high school

My common app essay and supplements are very very strong. I had them checked and worked on with some ivy league alumni and professional tutors.

Thanks!

@stern2020 No problem. Like I said, I went through this shit last year and know what you guys are going through. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask.

are you at stern at the moment or cas?

So basically i called the admission office and they said they are wrapping things up this week

@crownvic I took a gap year for an internship but I’m in the city and am pretty much at NYU whenever I’m not at my internship (so I’m knowledgeable about campus life). I’m in Stern, but will be Class of 2020 with hopefully all of you.

@Kmac…honestly…none of REALLY know what makes one of us get in and the other not…your GPA is good! tests.- they take a whole range. You’ve got great extra-currics and being a hispanic male is a huge plus for you. Having progressively more APs each time helps too of course. We’re all nervous and I think (personally) chancing each other just feeds it. I mean really, who of us really knows what goes on behind closed doors. I’ve read tons of posts on here and seen amazing stats (like over 2350) with great ECs, 4.0s, etc not get in, and people with fair stats and hardly any really amazing ecs get in. So, that’s my thought. But, my opinion is worth what you paid for it I guess. Just trying to help keep you sane. (and maybe convince myself to relax a bit too)

@iamprolollz do you mean they will release admissions decisions next week?

Yes seems like they are still reviewing applications. My counselor told me that they requested my current grades today. I’m thinking this is a good sign (as they are still considering me), but it does make me worried that they requested to see them. I have two Bs right now and once my one teacher updates the grade book I will only have 1 B. Kind of disappointed that they didn’t ask for them later this week.

@horselover7 I really respect that, and I appreciate the reply! thanks

how do you update your grade? you mean senior grade?

sigh hope we all get accepted

@iamprolollz NYU contacted my counselor and she sent my current senior year grades (via fax). Some schools automatically will send your first quarter senior grades with your transcript, however, my school doesn’t do first quarter grades. My transcript only shows Freshman-Junior year grades.

@deller123 what are your stats?

I got a letter in mail from nyu last week saying they received my application. I already got that email 2 days after sending in my common app. Did u guys get that letter? It’s like a purple post card. Think it means anything special ?

@collegeJerome…yup, got that too. last week and sent mine in quite awhile ago. wish it meant something, but kinda doubt it.

@Kmac…welcome. all in this together.
