********NYU ED Class of 2020 Discussion**********

hey guys, I applied ED to CAS and I’m freaking out about not having an FA change. I go to school in Singapore, but I applied as an American citizen. How worried should I be?

Has anyone gotten the FA change that didn’t send in their CSS and apply for FA?

@plsacceptmeplz The official decisions are coming out in less than two weeks. There is nothing anyone can do at this point. Don’t freak out, there is still plenty of time for the change. Two questions you may find relevant:

  1. Did you turn in CSS? <-- If not, rest assured. No one who has turned in CSS on this thread has gotten the FA change. The chance that everyone on this thread who didn’t apply for CSS is outright unqualified seems pretty unlikely. @NTXDad has a great theory about the reason for this (see page 30).

  2. Did you have problems submitting documents that you only recently worked out? If yes, rest assured. Admissions is most likely still reviewing you.

Best wishes.

@iywang…like what you wrote…i believe you meant…no one who DIDN’T turn in CSS on thread has gotten change, correct?

@horselover7 Yes, nobody on this thread who didn’t turn in CSS has gotten the change.

Some who turned in CSS, including myself, has gotten the To-Do Change but not the FA Change.

Some who turned in the CSS has gotten the FA Change.

So I, a domestic applicant who also turned in the CSS, got the FA change, but I was reading the ED2 thread and there were a few people who were also domestic and got the change but were rejected.

Now I feel uncomfortable

@Crzcorgi really? and I thought that only happens to internationals.

Still, I didn’t see anybody who didn’t have the FA Change and got in. So I’m still quite disturbed that I haven’t gotten the change yet. If you see somebody who didn’t have the change and still made it, let me know.

@ferrarivettel right, I have not seen a single person who is domestic, submitted CC, had no change, yet got in. So I guess the change is only good, but I’m still not convinced that it’s certain for acceptance.

@horselover7 Correct, I typed it out wrong. No one who didn’t submit CSS got the FA change.

Has anyone who only applied for NYU Shanghai or Abudhabi received the FA change?

^ I think they are just playing politics. In the last years admissions were rolled out over the day. Typically rejections go out first.

Colleges always respond with the date and time that is safest for them. I’d still say stay tuned on the NYU Admission Blog. The Dean of Admission Shawn Abbott will notify us of what to expect on decisions day soon.

Will someone chance me? I am applying to LSP ED1. I go to a top private school in a city and from a hispanic jewish background (i wrote my essay comparing the two different cultures and how i am a combination of both cultures).
GPA-3.3 or 3.4 not that high i know and I have a C on my transcript but not from jr or senior year but i took a lot of AP and post AP courses
ACT-31 composite
Extracurriculars: i have been working on a research project with the education school at UPenn since sophomore year, 4 year varsity tennis player and captain senior year, head of mock trial team, harvard model congress, i have work experience as a camp counselor, studied art history in italy for a summer, co founder of a prevention of human trafficking club, interned at a hospital and volunteer as an elementary school tutor among a few other things.

I just want to clarify with this whole “FA change” thing.

Does it change to:

“no self-service access for this year” or “Award Access Unavailable”

Which is the “good” one?

OK guys I have a different question. Does anyone know if last year or in the years prior, there was anyone who did not submit a CSS or a FAFSA or even Social Security number and still got an FA change? In other words if you do apply for any financial aid or merit aid (which is apparently given to those only with financial aid)? ie… Do they still send you into the FA system? Thank you!

Is anyone else applying to Gallatin? I feel like only a few others are and they’ll only accept a handful

@Kmac1521 the former.

Wrote that wrong.

Are there any Tisch film applicants out there that got the FA change yet?

@horselover7 I believe so.

On a separate note, every admitted applicant is automatically considered for merit aid. Applicants themselves do not apply for merit aid.
