Does anyone know what is going to happen about that FA Change? I may have missed the clear cut answer…
Guys there was an update in the admission blog.
http://admissionsblog.nyu.edu/2015/12/05/an-update-for-early-decision-i-applicants-3/
Looks like no emails this year, decisions will be released via Albert. I wonder if there will be waves like emails. I don’t think Albert server can handle up to 5000 ED applicants log in all at once.
Is that why they reverted all the FA changes to default??
Probably! So does that mean we can still consider the change a possible sign of admission?
@jhirn2020 I agree. Kinda annoyed they aren’t doing emails though haha. Something about the email/physical letter made it feel more official. Oh well!!
@iywang I agree… Let’s just hope we all get in!
If Albert could handle 5000 applicants log in at the same time, then we could rule out the possibility that they reset the FA changes because their system crashed.
I have a question. I am an International student who study in the United States and I did not apply for FA. I have not seen any FA changes on my Albert Login. Is it a sign of rejection or it does not matter?
It is just surprising to me that so many of us had the change? It seems almost everyone. It didn’t seem like so many in the past years.
First just about everyone who applied for financial aid. And then those who didn’t apply followed. I realize not everyone caught the change on Friday but it seems that so many that had the opportunity also had the change.
Does anyone agree or disagree? Or has it been the same
@remuwannabe well it is College Confidential and kids here care more about college admission than others and therefore should generally have stronger applications. I wouldn’t be surprised if everyone in this discussion got in. But you’re right, the number of FA changes is a bit high.
About the FA Change got reverted because they are now releasing decisions via Albert, I don’t think so. Last year the same thing (change for a few mins then reseted) happened to the RD applicants, but eventually they got the news via emails.
Has anyone had theirs change back yet?
@jhirn2020 last year RD applicants who got their FA changes reseted didn’t have it back until 2 hours before decision release.
This year, since the release is also on Albert and no longer on email, I think the change will happen at the same time as the decisions should you get accepted.
At this point it’s best to not worry about what happened with your FA. This is all new territory and you don’t want to let your guard down. We find out (officially) in 9 days now! It’s best to prepare yourself for both scenarios.
Are we only going to find out our admissions decision through email? I have the netID and everything but I searched online and saw that the only way you can check to see if you were admitted is through email. I applied ED to CAS
oh nevermind I just found Albert after searching through the chat!! thank god because I literally never would’ve found my decision haha
so…now that we are only going to have albert…and we will all be logging in all day long…does the albert turn red for rejection and green for admission, or is it just green as in ‘here is your decision’? did anyone catch the color of albert for rejection or shall we just assume it is time based?
Well, I think it doesn’t start till 5pm (just what I think I read, no clue if true) and I thought Albert was always purple?
it says that all decisions will be released at 5pm ET which is a bummer because that’s 3 in the morning my time
I’m glad I live in the US eastern time, although it makes no sense why they would release so late.
Well if it comes in waves, then they won’t keep a secret about it. In previous years they openly said that emails would be sent in waves.
Still, it’s more than a week until decision day. Right now probably Mr. Shawn is just saying the safest time and date for them. Things can change and I wouldn’t rule out an earlier decision or in-wave-release on decision day.
Either way, I’ll be checking Albert whenever I’m free that day.
