********NYU ED Class of 2020 Discussion**********

Lol, @deller123 pls let me borrow some Advil PM. The stress is going to keep me up all night.

There’s clearly a correlation between Non-renewable and living off campus, while there is a correlation between Freshman and living in campus (just like mine is). Now I’m leaning towards it doesn’t mean poop. International Student here.

I think means something especially since people who got it are listed as freshmen for next year…

BTW

Can someone gimme some last minute chancing for some more peace of mind. I realize my SAT (got a 720 on math) and my GPA(did poorly in a chem course and failed a math-course but retook it and got an A, allowing my max grade to calculate for the class to be a C) So any opinions would be useful. I hope they can look at my ECs and recommendations a lot, as well as my guidance counselors note of being from an unhappy and fighting family(no one gets along and my mother and father resort to violence [like idk y they bother living together]).

International student here. Got Freshman Fall in New York City. Checked on-campus on common app. FA does not change.

got what? From what I understood wether non-renewable or not, they all say Freshman above the green button.

I am from CA got Freshman Fall in New York City but no FA change

“Academic Year 2016-2017 - Freshman” this is what appears in grey on top also when I open the housing section with the ten segments

non renewable undergrad. Here are my stats.

So I don’t really think any of this is true. But let’s say this housing change thing was true… Based on evidence from these posts:

I would guess (TOTAL assumption here) that those who applied for on campus housing & have the “Freshman” thing listed - are probably in the clear

Those who applied for on campus housing and have “non-renewable” - are questionable

And people who applied off-campus (whatever the case), and have non-renewable would just have to wait & find out tomorrow, because there is no way of telling for them.

So technically, there should only be worry if someone applied for on campus & have “non-renewable”

But as stated MANY times, nothing is official until tomorrow. This is literally like another version of the FA change, smh.

Was there any truth to the FA change though?

Here are my stats for Gallatin with a major geared around arts and entertainment management

GPA: (UW) 90/100 W: around a 3.9? (I had a very low sophomore year GPA due to health issues which has been documented and explained thoroughly by both myself, teachers, and my guidance counselor. My freshman and junior year gpas are around a 3.7 UW )
SAT: 1700 (I know it’s low)

Essays: both I would say are a 9/10 and I have been told I am an extremely strong writer

Recommendations:

Private Tutor (during my sophomore year acted as my teacher for all subjects): 10/10

Private Music Instructor: 8 or 9/10

Counselor: again I would assume to be quite strong considering I have worked closely with her throughout my entire high school career. She has told me she explained the drop in my GPA due to health issues in her letter.

EC’s.

Heavily involved with music and theatre (involvement with productions, classes with notable professors from well-known universities in Boston, volunteering at a community theatre organization, private instruction, orchestras, awards, etc.) all 4 years.

Volunteering at a local dog shelter (consistently throughout high school) 9,11,12 grades.

Senior Courses:
I am currently dual-enrolled at a local community college

English 102 (through the honors program at the college)
Intro to Sociology
College Algebra
Complementary Health (a graduation requirement for high school)

I got non-renewable (and I am expecting a rejection tomorrow, hoping to be pleasantly surprised though)

Just read through the NYU Fall 2015 Transfer thread and a few applicants who were admitted reported a change on their housing portal the night before they received admission (their housing status changed from nonrenewable to undergraduate transfer, the equivalent of a freshman housing change for us). I do believe it is a good sign if you received a housing change, but we will definitely be sure by tomorrow. Good luck to everyone from a Steinhardt applicant!

If you run a search through last year’s forum and match up kids who reported “nonrenewable” and then later posted their decision there is a seemingly high correlation between nonrenewable and denial. Just start looking at the forum around page 32 and you will see them discussing the same changes as us. Mind you that there are only about 10 people I was able to match up (most people didn’t go back and post a decision). This is not from a statistical point of view anyway large enough of a sample to make predictions off of. However, it confirms this might mean something but we really have no clue until tomorrow at 5:00. With that out of the way I’m actually going to sleep now…

anyone feel like going through last year’s RD thread to see if this housing change was even talked about? lol

International applicant from Asia. Checked “want to live on-campus” in the application. Housing portal front page has three green buttons, one each for “Winter in NYC”, “Spring in NYC” and “Fall in NYC”. Click on the Fall button and it takes me to the application which is already partially filled out with some bio data (presumably extracted directly from the admissions app). This could mean nothing at all unless it was only available in the past few days/weeks since admissions decisions were finalized. Why would NYU’s coders allow for these forms to be generated for the '30,000-40,000 applicants who wont get in?

@KarahN98 Just spent the last 30 minutes doing that. Please see my post above. It’s really time consuming and often impossible to find the final decision of kids who posted about their housing application status. Also, they started talking about changes about a week out (so it is possible that NYU is now waiting until the night before to make the application live to prevent people from trying to predict their decision).

is it bad that only fall nyc shows up green for me? spring 2016 and summer 2016 say “no information available”

So its then assumed (if your prediction is right) that the kids who got freshman and not nonrenewable are in?

NY, Female- Don’t know about FA change (only checked this forum for the first time 2 days ago)- GPA UW 3.8 W 4.2- Submitted 6 APs- Got Freshman Fall in New York City.
