********NYU ED Class of 2020 Discussion**********

Hey, just curious. When you guys say that you submitted AP scores, does that mean you actually went and sent the scores form the collegeboard website, or did you just fill it in on the Common App?

Just found this on the NYU Housing Website -
"ELIGIBLITY

Renewable undergraduate students and current Spring 2016 non-renewable undergraduate residents are eligible to participate in the Reapplication/Room Selection process for the upcoming academic year.

A RENEWABLE STATUS indicates that you have met all of the following requirements:

students accept the initial housing offer at the time of admission
students meet all payment deadlines
students meet all reapplication deadlines
students maintain matriculated status
students do not at anytime cancel their housing contract (school approved medical leaves and NYU study abroad programs are the only exception)

A NON-RENEWABLE STATUS indicates that you have not maintained a renewable status as defined above."

Found this from 2019 - It seems the ones who had “Freshman” were accepted

That doesn’t mean other people who didn’t get the “Freshman” didn’t get accepted. I didn’t spend enough time looking through the rest of the thread.

@deller123 That doesn’t really help us, as the only reason that would possibly apply to us is the “initial housing offer”, which hasn’t even been made available to us yet.

@Merppity I self reported them on the Common App, and my counselor put them on my transcript

@NyuEdPls if they happened to apply for on-campus housing, yes that’s what it would SEEM like. Still a theory.

but if non-renewable = rejection…this goes against the FA theory. Again, my friend has the change (3rd wave, so happened after most of our FAs disappeared) but says non renewable.

I know this is kinda gonna sound like a “humble brag”, but I’m honestly kinda panicking here.

Those are my stats, and to sum it up, i have enough credits from APs and dual enrollment to be considered a sophomore and a half. I’m also fairly certain that I checked that “live on campus” box, but I’m still listed as nonrenewable. So I either checked the wrong box (unlikely), got rejected (also pretty unlikely), am entered as a non-freshman in their system (makes no sense), or this is all bogus, and they’re working on the system with something beyond our comprehension.

I can’t imagine that this means anything-- there are three versions of this page out there: freshman, non-renewable, and another person said that fall was the only one with a green button (the others don’t function).

Also remember, if there is any correlation, decisions don’t go out until 5 tomorrow (and I imagine they won’t all be out at that time either).

Any chance for a rejection wave hitting us in a few hours?

@Merppity Relax. You’re thinking into this way too much. And no, lol, it doesn’t sound like a humble brag. It is a humble brag. You’re panicking because you let yourself get too confident. Either choose not to believe the theories and stay secure in your belief that you will get admitted or believe the theories and tone down your confidence. But don’t call the theories bs just because you think you deserve to get in and the theories aren’t “holding up” for you.

@Merppity that gpa…not impressive. Math SAT ii…not impressive. Lol, chill a little bit. There’s no way you’d be considered unlikely to get rejected, in fact no one is. That’s why it’s considered to be such a good school. Lastly, Stern probably won’t count a good chunk of those credits, so…I’d simply say nothing is certain, obviously, but best of luck.

Ohh, and also a good point for all to know. Apparently, this is what an admissions counselor/officer told me about nyu, they don’t weigh ap scores into ur decision unless you send them the scores from collegeboard instead of simply self-reporting!

@merppity NYU looks at everything holistically- while your scores are nice, your essays may have been mediocre and they could not accept you from that, or because they simply don’t have enough room. you certainly have a great chance, but its never good to be overly sure- just to avoid the big crash if you get let down. best ok luck though!

How do you check the housing thing; I’m super confused

@Merppity Hi! I did pre-college/tisch summer scholars and I have “Freshman 2016-2017”

I found the “green button”… I clicked on it and it brought me to some application page… what does this mean?

@Merppity The FA theory proved to be true last year, but you’re right, it could be different this year as they are releasing everything via Albert. But that also gives me another reason to suspect there might be glitches in this new method of releasing decisions.

I am also only allowed to access the application for Fall Freshmen. Winter and Spring are unavailable for me and they don’t have a green button. I had the FA change before everyones reset back to default

NYU apparently is working hard to make its site relevant to the new admitted students tomorrow, the “admitted students instructions” has also been updated for the Class of 2020. So are the information on move-in day and the welcome events.

So it should make sense that they updated the Housing for newly admitted students. I can guaranteed that I checked this noon and it was still information for the class of 2019, and the site just recently changed to what you are seeing now.

A few days ago, on the housing site there was an application for Spring 2016, which has nothing to do with me, my status was “non-renewable” and I could still access the application (the green button). So being non-renewable yet still able to access the application means nothing guys.

Applied to Tandon as a 1st choice and my indicator is “Brooklyn Freshman”, so getting my hopes up. Although since my family can’t pay full-tuition I need some kind of aid to attend, so still extreme nervous for 5pm.
