I want to post stats because I think there is a lot of hype. I think it was a pretty “average” application stats-wise, but well within the normal NYU range too. You don’t have to be 75th percentile to get in!!
High school is known for grading quite harshly but still at 3.5 UW/3.7 W I thought it was a reach. Maybe it was …but still
ACT 30.
3 APs written so far, 5, 5, 4.
Not a lot of ECs but deep (all 4 HS years) commitment, most impressive is probably mock trial with a series of both team and individual awards
4 languages - probably helped for IR
Green card holder from very under-represented African country - if there was any hook, this was it
Essays - CA essay OK, counsellor didn’t like “why NYU” essay, parents loved it…!

Hook: probably 36 ACT and national merit scholarship semifinalist. also i went to the summer program and got an A in my bio class. for the writing class my essay was accepted into their literary magazine
