I feel like I read something about how NYU home was redesigned
@stressedsenior72 yeah I saw that I was just wondering because each year it seems to get even harder to get into NYU. Everyone wants to go to NYU, isn’t it like one of the most applied to schools? It’s so sad that there are so many eligible and promising candidates that might not get in because of the increased influx of applications.
Then again I have read that since NYU doesn’t have a max number of applicants they can admit if you are a right fit NYU will make room for you. And to be honest that kind of makes rejection even more depressing because then it means you either weren’t good enough or NYU wasn’t a good fit.
I’ve heard that NYU’s RD has gotten harder to get into while their ED has gotten easier to get into
I think I’m spiraling
@collegemaybeidk Yeah so I’ve heard. Let’s hope so. I’ve also seen that at many colleges ED 1 is easier to get into than ED 2 so maybe thats another advantage? Makes sense that they would accept more from ED1 than 2
yeah the CSS thing doesn’t make anyone illegible for admission… only illegible for financial aid.
they don’t require it even if you aren’t applying financial aid because none of the information in the CSS has to do with your application (academics, tests, excs, etc.)
Yeah and honestly admissions don’t even view ur CSS Porfile or FAFSA. These are viewed by the financial aid officers.
@collegemaybeidk I read in an article they were shifting around an additional 10% of their RD to their ED acceptances. Reason being many apply to Ivy’s RD and if they get accepted and get into Ivy’s they choose those over NYU, or just in general other schools. They know ED1 is serious and so they are trying to admit more as they have a higher turn around rate of getting accepted and going to NYU instead of choosing a different school.
well 2 years ago ED acceptance rate was 40% while RD was 30%, and last year RD was 20%, so does that mean ED is 50% avg?
@lolgirl123 Mine’s the same too. Not sure what it means…anyone else? Has anyone with the red x contacted admissions about it?
how can we view the school and major we applied for? I am in albert but I can’t see what school i applied for (which is gallatin)
Mine has the green check mark and the mid december part is also gone
I spoke to 2 different NYU reps about ED1 vs ED2 and both were adamant that each was as good as the other (some people wait for ED2 because they are expecting better grades or to get an award or something they want to show), but that both are definitely an advantage over RD. So although they say they judge on the same basis as the RD pool…well they can’t really can they? I think the RD pool is just harder comparatively too because all the rejected Ivies with super stats end up in that one after their ED/EA rejections or deferrals.
From last year’s threads it seemed like everyone who put NYUSH or NYUAD as an alternate choice got sent to one of those btw. Well everyone on CC, can’t say everyone at all obviously. But at the info session the dude was very clear that if you don’t want to go to those campuses you shouldn’t list them as alternates.
Why is Thursday so far away?? I’m dying :((
@pandorasb0x i emailed admissions, ill put in here when they respond
Does anyone know if NYU rejects on ED or can you only get differed/accepted?
i think someone said they do reject but there are exceptions i think to get deferred to RD? i could be wrong though
@pandorasb0x I’m on the same page as you. Emailed the FA office yesterday but still waiting for a response
