did anyone who applied to stern around the 31st of march have a successful attempt at “activating” their net-id or finding out what their net-id is?

i applied to stern on the first of april!!

and i can see my netId!!! :)

does anyone know if you are placed into a different pool of applicants if you applied for financial aid from those who did not. thanks

i mean log into NYU home. idk. i gotta call them on monday.

gosh, i have 4 finals next week and i can’t study at all now because of it…

I would bet a good amount of money that NYU admissions officers monitor these threads and get a good laugh out of this haha.

@googman: i submitted my application to stern on March 30th and i did activate my netid

@mazz0408 i submitted my application on the 31st, but called in this week and they said that my application was in the wrong place so im assuming that hopefully its just under review right now and a decision has not been made. I tried activating the net-id, but it would not let me. I AM SO WORRIED.

again.

@mazz0408: what do you mean by “activating” your netiD??

@hookedongtown i think what people mean when they say that they are trying to activate their net-id is that they are going to this page, https://start1.nyu.edu/ibin/start0.cgi and then they use the first box above where it says “dont know your NYU net id” and find out from that form whether or not it lets them create a net-id. i think everyone is naming the process “activate your net-id” because that is the page that you first land on to get to this page, [NYU > ITS > Get Connected > Your NetID & Password](http://www.nyu.edu/its/netid/#activate) …

oh ok. so am i in the clear if i can create a netiD??

i haven’t and most probably won’t try to “activate” it anytime before the actual decision notification.

I have no idea haha. thats the notion that people have carried over from the “nyu transfer thread fall 2010”. I tried finding out what my net-id was, but it wouldn’t let me. Hopefully I still get in. Gosh, I’m so worried.

lol, don’t worry! hopefully you’ll have receive your acceptance this week!!! :)

i can’t stop worrying either. georgetown’s responsible for my unending insomnia haha

Thanks a lot. Thats really encouraging of you hookedongtown. I wish you all the best of luck with georgetown. I have a lot of friends that go there, and hopefully you’ll be another student there in a weeks time.

@googman:

I wouldn’t go 100% by your NetID; there have been some people that received notification of their acceptance and haven’t had an activated NetID.

Don’t worry about it. The majority of us still have not heard back yet. Stop freaking out and try to focus of something else (I wouldn’t be surprised if many of us have gotten our first gray hairs over this whole ordeal).

what happens if we’re unable to activate our netID thing? will we still get a decision? or does that mean we’re automatically rejected? because whenever i try to create my netID it keeps coming up with:

Only current members of the NYU community are eligible to use
this function. Please make sure you have entered your NetID
(which looks like “aqe123”) and not your University ID Number
(which looks like “N12345678”). For more help please contact
the ITS Client Services Center at 1.212.998.3333.

i got my university ID and stuff, but it doesn’t work :[[[[ so much sadness.

if you can get the net-id, you’re in. the whole activating stuff doesn’t matter.

according to other people on this thread.

the thing is i can’t even MAKE a netID. all i have is the university ID that they sent me when i applied.

don’t worry! your file probably hasn’t been reviewed yet. hope for the best and it’ll all work out. people have mentioned on this thread, many people who couldn’t create a netId were eventually admitted.

good luck! :)
