NYU HomeLogin

Oh yeah, and the NYU office asked me if I had done it because of College Confidential, so be assured that they know what is going on. I really hope my stupidity in activating my account will not reverse my admissions decision.

Yes, it seems that they are very on top of this, but a rep there said that it wouldn’t affect people who tried to log on, but the person/persons who posted the site to begin with.

I feel better knowing that.

As a student who was blocked from, “creating a netID,” for not being a member of the community, should I still proceed to contact the Admissions Office?

And if I do would it be best to contact them via phone or e-mail?

…I’m scared now! Had it been made clear to me that creating the email account was wrong, I SO WOULDN’T HAVE!

omg I feel horrible now, I should’ve went with my instinct

I feel horrible as well. =/

i feel bad because it didn’t even occur to me that I was doing something I wasn’t supposed to!

^^^ Same here.

In fact, ive seen on other schools boards kids doing the same exact thing! I didn’t know it was against policy. I guess I won’t speculate on admissions anymore!

I KNOW! Next year, I’ll come onto CC to make sure no innocent applicant gets tempted!

siiiiiiigh. I won’t be secure in my acceptance until I’ve actually moved into an NYU dorm–this has really ripped a hole in my sails.

Holy cow, I’m freaked out. I checked it 3 weeks ago; I didn’t make an account but only logged on. I could find that page by navigating to it within the NYU site itself, so I figured it was OK. I mean, they gave us that password/pin, so I was just checking some things.

Now I’m really scared.

you all need to chill out

My EXACT feelings right now, too.

Wow. These are high school seniors?

Lol, I agree with ya corey, but it’s hard. It’s hard for everyone even myself.

Even though we know that there’s nothing we can say or do to fix anything since the decision is pretty much out of our hands and already done…it’s still such an anxiety-causing situation. With the increasing amount of applicants, acceptances are sooo hard this year, even for very qualified students. I know personally, when someone spends a lot of time, effort, and money putting together an app (especially to a top choice school), one gets attached, and any slight indication of admittance sends his curiosity and hope skyrocketing…

But yeah, not much we can do about it, but be thankful we only go through this process once for college…Good luck everyone!

I agree…

They are going to hear soon anyway, and people are going crazy from the anticipation. If the decision has been made, waiting for the turtle mail seems pointless… But it would be quite ridiculous if people are rejected for making emails for facebook… most people didn’t even know it was wrong… I hope nothing bad happens to people who tried it…

119 students at Harvard were rejected for apprantly trying to “hack” into the system… Uh all they did was backspace their id url or something odd like that. I don’t think NYU’s that crazy so I would chillout…

yeah…personally, like i admit i hit the link and put my # in but went no further. I do agree that people who actually made emails, let alone facebook stuff, went too far. I mean…only their students get NYU addresses and if you haven’t been admitted, I didn’t think it was right to go that far. But like you said, I think NYU is just counting it as a learning experience, has been very lenient, and good about this situation. We thank them!

Hopefully everyone will hear some good news? Good luck!

I would like to sincerely apologize for entering into the Net-ID log system, while honestly admitting that I did not know it was something that was against the rules. Fortunately, I did not go any further as to check what was behind it, I didnt not create an email. Whatever inconveniences I have caused the NYU community, I want to sincerely apologize, but honest to say, it was a typical page like any other application status system. Beyond the plain reason of just my curiosity at its worst, I had no intentions of doing anything else, nor was I trying to debate my admissions decisions. This is a lesson to be learned for all of us. Indeed, the system should be changed so this does not happen again, and like any other person around this board, I would like to apologize again, and I hope things will be all right in the end. Thank you for officially informing us about the situation as well as the grave dangers the internet can have.

*i just re read and accidentally typed a double-negative

i meant to say
** I DIDNT create an email.

either way, i’m sorry
