***NYU Regular Decision Class of 2021 Discussion***

That is nice to hear since I’ve been rejected from so many schools in the past few days. However, I am still doubtful.

Anyone here applied through HEOP?

@allallj despite what people say on hear, NYU is going to consider you for all the campuses and schools you’ve indicated an interest in. The reason people say Stern applicants aren’t usually considered for CAS in because typically applicants to the two schools are very different, they will consider you for CAS though. If NYU wants you they will accept you, they may even consider you for LS if they don’t have a place for you in CAS or Stern.

Hopefully this comment, which was posted in last year’s NYU applicants forum, will help those of us who are freaking out about housing:

“For future applicants in the last days before decisions release looking for clues, any clues, to try to figure if you got in or not…my kid got in to NYUAD with full ride but his housing portal still shows non renewable undergrad and only offers summer 2016 to sign up for housing.”

@SternAspirations Where can I see if it shows nonrenewable undergrad and only offers summer 2016 to sign up for housing?

@philosphists123 In the housing portal, but as others have mentioned whatever it says really doesn’t matter because none of what any of the portals say currently is an indicator.

Question- the admissions blog mentions admissions committees are formed by school (Tisch, CAS, etc). Does anyone know if the Tisch auditors simply give their recommendations to the admissions committee or are they on the committee themselves? I know the auditors have a lot of power in deciding who gets in and who doesn’t, was wondering about the process…

@philosphists123 here: https://housing.nyu.edu/apply but keep in mind that it really doesn’t seem to matter - people who had the “academic year” option in housing app, for example, were both rejected and accepted last year, so feel free to pretend like it doesn’t exist

@Rav115 I read an article about the school choice on the admissions blog and the author mentioned that. After I saw it I searched previous cc threads and people also said that. Never found anyone who got into CAS after being rejected from Stern.

@getaclucy Thank you for these words :(( :(( now I’ll just keep my fingers crossed… We’ll see. Also good luck to you!

@accept2017 nope, I dont have that email

Guys, does NYU equally assess Non-SAT applicants?

@bestfreshstart as long as you submitted one of their test options you should be considered the same as any other applicant. Standardized testing scores are nowhere near the most considered factor in their admission decisions.

@meggysmom Tisch is 50-50. Tisch has to accept you artistically and NYU proper has to accept you scholastically. You have to get a yes from both. There are two processes your application goes through when you apply to Tisch. Pretty sure Tisch reviews the applications first and then NYU proper does

I took a break from this website for a few days due to way too much anxiety, but now I’m curious about my chances of getting in.

GPA: 3.56 / 4 (weighted) ; 95.7% (unweighted)
SAT: 1250 (670 English)(580 math)
ACT: 26 (I forget my individual scores)
Rank: 31/120 (weighted) ; 19/120 (unweighted)

I’d say the strongest part of my application was the increase of my grades and GPA. Freshman year most of my grades were B’s, sophomore year mostly A’s with some B’s, and junior year all of my grades were A+'s.
I also have a lot of extra curricular activites and office postions. I don’t feel like getting into detail, but…yeah.

First choice major: Biology

Second choice: International Relations (low-key hoping I get accepted for this rather than bio.)

Third choice: MCC

Obviously you guys aren’t admissions agents, but hearing what you think (good or bad), will definitely make me feel less anxious.

Thanks!

@geminii your gpa looks good, and your class rank is impressive. I think you have a good chance. Would anyone mind looking at my credentials? I’ve been rejected almost everywhere, and I just want to know if I have a chance of getting into NYU

GPA: 94 numeric
ACT: 32 superscore; 30 composite
EC: Played freshmen football in 9th grade. Played varsity football in 10th and 11th grade. Clubs and volunteer services: National Spanish Honors Society, 1-2-1 Reach ( a club that involves high school students tutoring middle school students), Flood, HOSA, FBLA, Next Generation Focus ( a non-profit organization that helps remedial students), many church leadership roles and volunteer services ( I became a youth group shepherd in my junior year), volunteer service at a local library, volunteer service at Furkids Animal shelter, and hospital volunteer and experience.
APs: AP Physics 1 (junior year), Senior year: AP Statistics, AP Calc BC, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Economics, AP Spanish Language and Culture.
I am undecided.
I applied to the college of arts and sciences.
I am the first generation in my family to go to college.
I received the Varsity Athletic Scholar Award in my sophomore and junior year.
I received honor roll every year in high school.

@geminii I think your grades and scores are average, with standardized testing scores a little bit below average. However, your upward trend is definitely amazing and they should take note of that. I don’t know your essays/EC’s/AP’s/recs but based off of these, I think that you have an ok/good chance of getting in

just how competitive is mcc? i couldn’t fight any info on this, but i’ve heard many people talking about applying there.

I have summer 2017. On my housing portal and have already been accepted as a mlk scholar

Yeah  I know my GPA and SAT/ACT scores aren’t anything too spectacular, but I still wanted some input. I was just waitlisted to Fordham the other day, so I’m even more nervous about NYU :expressionless:

Do we know when exactly decisions will be posted…??
