NYU Spring 2018 Transfer Thread

How many of you are still waiting for an admission decision?

Apparently you had to submit a housing application due November 17.

Does anyone know if there is another way to get housing on campus after the deadline?

Is anyone here’s parents taking out parent plus loans?

In addition, how much did you get for fafsa at your previous college? @washingtonsqpark I got around 6000 both semesters. My mom is planning to pay the tuition through the student loans in my name and fafsa, then the rest in parent plus loans

@lorenzolefevre I called the office and they told me if you received your admission decision after that date, you can still get housing don’t worry they extend it

BTW i submitted my grades and now I am finally seeing changes on my portal, so they told me to expect a decision by the end of this week. my financial aid status changed to 2018 inquiry access denied and I now have access to the housing apps, does anyone know if this is a good sign?

can anyone chance me?

college: top 50 university
gpa: 4.0/4.0 fall semester
sat: 1370/1600
high school gpa: 3.7/4.5 W
and I am planning on applying to stern business school

@washingtonsqpark Any luck getting together a schedule? NYU is so disorganized, I got a bill from the bursar for this semesters tuition. I called financial aid and they said they hadn’t received my fasfa

@Dreamer2020 I currently have HALF of a schedule, because I’m still in contact with my major’s department to get all my credits trasnferred

My experience with NYU has been a mess, guys. I don’t think I have enough time to do all the sh** they’re asking of me. I wish I could defer until the Fall.

Hey is anyone else a comp sci major here

@washingtonsqpark same here, you need approval from each department. So idk what’s the point of having an advisor if they can’t do anything but give you the email to the head of the department. Meanwhile there are hardly any classes left.

@washingtonsqpark The best part- I tell my advisor I only have one class in my enrollment cart. All of my major classes are full, and he’s like oh take electives! I’m like I don’t need electives just 7 classes for my major! And he’s like oh you will have better luck next semester getting the classes you want. So I’m thinking why did NYU accept me as a transfer student when all the classes for my major are full, which forces me to be a) a part time student or b) take classes I don’t need just to fill a schedule.

For everyone here, I wanna personally congratulate the people who were admitted to NYU. I would like to meet and network with the people here, as I will be maximizing my own opportunities the day I step in NY. For everyone else, good luck. The journey to success starts here.

Is anyone else still waiting to hear their admission decision?

Let’s keep communicating in here until orientation? I just finished the CAS transfer portal and I’m now situating all the extracurricular activities that I need to participate in.

Is anyone here on the pre-law path? What extracurriculars are all of you looking to take part in at NYU?

@EconDon23 I’m on the pre-law path! I have no clue about extracurriculars because NYU still hasn’t updated my financial aid status. They needed proof of citizenship and I sent that in a week ago now but still no update :frowning:

Do we all have orientation on the same date? January 19th at 11 am?
