Hi! So I just submitted my application for the Gallatin school this weekend and I am already so nervous to hear back lol
Can any tell me if I have a good chance of getting in? I’m a freshman transferring from a well known/very good university because its just really not the right place for me and doesn’t offer what I want to do. Here are my stats –
HS gpa: 3.83 uw 4.14 w
College midterm gpa: 3.94 (I’m freshman so I don’t have a final gpa yet but it should stay the same for the rest of the semester)
ACT: 32 (33 superscored)
good essay and a good rec from a professor
Extracurriculars in HS – 2 part time jobs (worked at the same time), captain of ski team junior and senior year, captain of a Saferides team for 2 years, internship at a local business, volunteering at local hospital, national honors society member, organized and ran a NHS coat drive, summer camp counselor for 2 years
College extracurriculars – photographer & graphic designer for lifestyle magazine, photographer for spoon university chapter, member of social media committee for service-dog training club, member of podcast/film production club, volunteered during a school wide day of service
@acg108 You already submitted yours? I was too afraid to submit mine…
If it helps, my stats were not as shiny as yours when I applied and I got in so you probably have a good chance. Plus your college ECs also are not cookie cutter (which nyu loves).
Would a student with a 3.179 GPA be able to get into CAS or Gallatin?
I have extenuating circumstances that made my GPA low Which is explained in my essay.
I have a 4.0 HS gpa and 31 ACT
@corndogtruck1 I think it’s mostly an even shot, but if you’re going to be an independent study major they have to have trust in you that you’ll be successful in your courses. If your intended major is really out of the scope of what is offered than do Gallatin but if it’s not you have a better chance at CAS.
I’m an anthropology major and have 2 solid recommendations from anthropology professors. I also have a solid letter from a supervisor of the place I volunteer at. Does anyone know if Spring accepts more than Fall?
Hey Guys,
I’m not putting all of my stats in b/c this entire thread is lit rally pure stress, and will drive me insane. But does anyone know if we can submit a midterm report before we’re asked for it? I have a really good GPA rn and I want to show that I’m keeping it up during this semester.
Just called to admission office and was told the decision will be out soon. Somewhere around this month and all the way to January!! It’s a rolling basis. My guess is the first decision date will be in two weeks and start releasing decisions.
Also, does anyone know how late the decision dates can go? If I get in I have to move all of my stuff from the University of Miami to NYU. I am just nervous I will get a decision after second semester starts here at UM (spring semester at the University of Miami starts way earlier than the start of spring semester at NYU) and then I will be stuck at UM
