Has anyone heard anything!!! The waiting is killing us…
@kittysmom12 Not a peep!
No news!
Oy. I saw this thread take off and thought “FINALLY!” - but no. FYI, studio assignments come via email, nothing on Albert or the portal indicates it.
Also, for someone that has experience with registering for classes- D is at beach week next week and class registration is Tuesday. Is it a pain to register on a mobile device? I’m not available to register for her and she won’t have access to anything else.
For a minute I thought alright we have movement but realized I would have heard from my son by now so the wait shall continue into next week or possibly later today?
supposedly today.
@yellahamma - what I remember is my D set up a shopping cart on Albert with the class schedule she wanted. Your D needs her studio assignment to determine which of the studio classes to add but that’s not too big a deal because she’s assured to get that and there’s no section or choice in timing - they are all 3 days a week 9-6, lol. The other classes - Writing the Essay and the Theatre Production or Overview classes and ITP - there are many choices of section so she’ll want to think through how she wants her weekly schedule. Once she’s got her shopping cart full it’s just a matter of waiting for the registration time slot, signing onto Albert and submitting promptly. My D was at the beach when her slot opened and she was less stressed about it than I was so I submitted her schedule from my own computer last year… but I think it should be easy enough to do from the phone. Registration was easy and quick. After the first registration my D has handled it herself. Albert takes some getting used to but after the first go-round it’s fine.
@CaMom13 - you have wealth of information and being from the west coast I do have a little anxiety that my son is moving across country but he is so very excited. He shunned all the west coast schools for the Big Apple
Thanks, at @CaMom13! We’ll look at everything in advance and get her classes in the cart.
Mine too @mufasa23! I have to say - I had my doubts about a suburban Californian’s ability to survive in NYC but she absolutely adores living in “The City”. NYU is a fantastic way for these wanna-be urbanites to get their feet wet because the college environment provides a safety net but the city is there to explore. I won’t say there haven’t been glitches - like the time she called me and said “I almost got killed today because a car didn’t see me in the crosswalk” but I am so happy she is having the urban college experience she wanted. If in 3 years she comes home to So Cal, I’ll be thrilled… but if she stays in NY I’ll be comfortable because she’ll already be prepared for the life there.
Hello NYU parents!
As an current student and drama arts rep at Tisch I can assure you that studio placements are set to be released later today! Last year studio placements were sent out via email at around 5:30 so this year may be around the same time!
My D just found out-Stella Adler!!!
D is in Strasberg. She’s over the moon! It’s the studio she talked about in her audition. ?
YAY - the wait is over! Congratulations to you and your kids!
My daughter has Strasberg as well. Looks very well rounded - it’s definitely beginning to feel real!
This is so very helpful, @CaMom13! Thank you for all your help on CC!
And my D is in Meisner! She’s super excited for the challenge as 90% of her work has been in MT. She does still want to take voice and dance though (has been dancing since age 3), so any tips from all the wise parents here would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all for your amazing support, guidance and words of wisdom on this oh so long and winding road!
Congrats to everyone!!! D is in NSB (she selected MT only but now she can exhale since she finally has it writing). It’s getting real now!
