NYU Transfer Fall 2021

Can someone explain to me what it’s like calling admissions? I wanted to ask them a question about something but I also wanted to ask for an update on my application. Does anyone know if the admissions rep people could have info on the status of my application even if I haven’t had any updates on my portal? My checklist disappeared a long time ago (The same time as people who have already heard back) so I’m kinda worried. But if it’s guaranteed that they’ll only just say smth like “You’ll hear back within the next few weeks.” Then I don’t want to call for the sake of my mental health lmao.

They know the status of your application, but I think their answer isn’t useful at all. They just tell everybody the same thing.

I can enter NYU classes, but the information is unavailable, like calendar or something.

I am. CompSci transfer here

hey everyone im new here, i’ve been googling transfer decision dates like crazy and i came across this thread which has been really helpful. i applied to transfer from cc to CAS (english) and so far my checklist is gone but the withdraw and update buttons are all still there. the thing is, i have alr been accepted to a couple other schools and don’t want to jeopardize my housing situation since they need a commitment by june 1, so i don’t even know if i can wait to hear from them after next week. it’s so frustrating that they don’t give a specific date to release decisions.

I called the AO last week and they told me my decision would be released within 2 weeks. Just now I called them again because i have to pay the deposit for UNC before 5/15 and I want to know whether I can receive the decision before that, and they told me the decision would be released within 2 weeks again… So I guess they themselves don’t have a specific day of releasing :disappointed_relieved

I would contact the schools you’ve been accepted to and ask if you can have an extension on deciding since you’re still waiting to hear from one school. I’ve heard of others doing it and getting one and I might need to ask for one from my accepted schools soon too.

Yeah they also advised me to do so, but the point is I don’t know when NYU will release their decision so I’m not sure how long the extension should be… After all I can’t let them wait forever, it’s better to have a specific date.

Sorry I’m late on this … I know how stressed you guys are. My son’s checklist disappeared last Thurs 5/6 and he was accepted Mon 5/10 at 11:14am to Steinhardt (Music Technology) which required a portfolio review. He applied about 3/31 I think. Transferring from a UC (freshman this year) with similar ranking to NYU and average GPA. He didn’t apply for financial aid or housing. So far one glitch is they sent email saying that they didn’t receive official transcripts. We sent not one but TWO officials and had green check on the list (that whole admissions page is now gone, not just the checklist). Unofficials were uploaded early on just in case, maybe it just auto generated based on those. I should note that he attended the summer program in music technology in high school and most of the students who went then got in as freshman. I think they like to hear that you really know the program you’re applying to. That said, music technology is a super specific major and I’m assuming a fairly small department. It’s not one a student would like randomly decide to apply to. I’m sure there’s more competition in traditional majors.

Yeah that’s true. Not sure which program you applied to, but I’m expecting an answer by next week at the latest considering summer classes are required for my program (tisch film and tv), so I would probably only ask for an extra week or two from the other schools if it still hasn’t come by 5/17. But depending on your program, I have heard of some people not getting there’s until sometime in June.

When does summer semester start? I’m really hoping they do the big wave by Friday. Monday at the latest. This is getting ridiculous… :frowning:

I agree! Students should have heard back by now especially if they are enrolling in a summer semester! How do they expect students to undergo such a massive change in one or two weeks?! Housing, cost, etc…

Does anyone think we’ll hear back today?

no im assuming the waves are just going to be each monday

nope, its already past 2pm est

Hey guys I just found this thread. I submitted application really late so I’m not surprised I haven’t heard back but I sent my (virtual) official trancript and financial aid over a month ago but the my checklist still says they haven’t been received. I got a confirmation email from the transcript company saying it was recieved by the recipient (aka nyu) the day after I sent it, but when I emailed admissions they said they don’t have it on file yet. Should I just wait it out or should I call admissions? Based on what people are saying it seems like I’d just get a standard automated response

Hey
To be on the safe side I would re send them the transcripts and unofficial ones too asap. Before it is too late. Ik it says the recipient received it but if nyu doesn’t confirm it you might want to re send. It happened to me for a different school and I resent them, but it was kinda late. Good luck

I already sent unofficial transcript but I’ll resend the official one. Thanks!

Very doubtful. A lot of people start seeing changes to the application portal and albert a little while prior to decisions. Nobody is reporting that. I’d think Friday at the earliest (fingers crossed) and hopefully Monday at the latest which would be around the latest the biggest wave of acceptances has happened over the past 2 years.
