Omg what’s the red boxes for?? I don’t see any in my portal I’m so fking nervous

Hi I just wanna know what’s the difference between NYU CAS and NYU SPS. I applied to both but one seems to be easier to submit the documents and it’s confusing me :(. I’m an international student btw pls help

I also have the red boxes but my buttons are all still there! The checklist dissapeared 3 weeks ago. Are your buttons gone?

Hi! So SPS, being the School of Professional Studies, is another division/school within NYU and they’re geared towards students/applicants who may have had/have an unconventional or a relatively non-traditional education history or background (ex: gaps in your education timeline or anything really). So it accommodates those students and even enables students to create more flexible schedules, considering they might have other priories in their life keeping them more busy or whatever it may be (maybe you just need or would like a more flexible academic life). It’s essentially for “continuing education” but anyone can apply as long as you meet eligibility. I think it’s fairly easier to transfer into as well! You can pretty much choose from a variety of areas of study within that school whereas CAS is specifically an arts and sciences concentrated school.

Thank you so much!! But I heard that NYU SPS students usually have imposter syndrome because other NYU schools normally discriminate against SPS students. I’m just afraid that if I don’t get in to NYU CAS, I’ll have a bitter experience in SPS. I took a gap semester because my previous university doesn’t offer my major anymore and it pisses me off so bad so I decided to transfer. I feel like it’s way harder for an international student to transfer due to our foreign transcripts etc. I have a 4.0 gpa but I’m still scared that I wouldn’t be accepted:(

literally SAME. my checklist disappeared 3 weeks ago and I still have the buttons along with the recent red boxes

idek. I got them earlier tn in my nyu home i have no idea what it is

I understand what you mean, I’ve heard this as well. Honestly that judgement is heavily biased because many people within NYU schools will want to believe that they’re superior in their own way, but if you want to apply to SPS please don’t let that stop you. SPS is there for a reason and it is literally ~NYU~ so although the imposter syndrome might feel tough to block out, if you feel you would be able to embrace your achievement of getting into NYU and honoring that for yourself, then go for it. There are positive people and there are negative people in life, and if you surround yourself with positive ones, they will never tear you down. I’m even most likely going to apply to SPS because it still would be an acceptance or a rejection from NYU! Lol. However, I also would recommend considering your options because I wouldn’t want you to feel like you could’ve gone somewhere else where you might have felt more confident, you know? There are other great programs similar to CAS out there

And I’m sure it’s even more challenging and daunting as an international student but it’s worth the shot!!

What are u guys talking about im soooo lost

True true true I totally agree with you. You honestly made me feel muchhhh better lmao thank you so much. I hope we get into NYU honestly this degree of nervousness is killing me. I read in NYU website that you can actually transfer internally from sps to cas so I guess that’s an option as well. But yea thank you so much!!

Nopee im calm cus none of us heard back soooo

Of course! I’m glad to have been able to make you feel a bit more at ease. And yes!! See, that’s great and all the more reason why the idea of SPS and peoples biased opinions shouldn’t bring you down! You can always internally transfer into cas whenever you’re ready, and you’d still be receiving an education and degree from NYU regardless.

Ahhh I know I can’t take it much longer. I’m hoping for the best for all of us :pray:t3:
