i have no idea what major lol i just asked her what school. sorry!!
nerdgirl don’t give up Johns Hopkins
A friend’s son is there he loves it
Baltimore is not too far from NY?
@nerdgirl010115. Firstly, need to know some key info. Dose JHU or NYU offer you financial aid? Are you off waitlist of NYU last week? If yeah, starting at Fall or Spring? What’s the difference on their tuition and total costs? What’s the deposit for JHU?
Fortunately my financial aid from JHU is what I can afford, it’s still a bit pricey but nothing out of reach. NYU has been my first choice though since my freshman year, and I just want to give up the idea of going now. I would like to make a decision whether I hear back or not, because if I do I feel like I’ll just accept my offer to NYU on a whim. Should I just finally be content with JHU? The deposit was 500$
@joshua&goldy
Thank you @almamommy I’m trying to get excited for JHU but I keep thinking about NYU
@nerdgirl97, Thanks for your reply. Upon US&News ranking on neuroscience, JHU ranks #10 and NYU #15, no substantial difference, though the difference of overall university ranking is bit larger. I am somewhat surprised that NYU hasn’t given you an offer. You should still feel happy to JHU despite no news from NYU. One more question, if NYU offers you Spring, will you accept.
That is my dilemma. I’m not sure if I should accept. I do think my “why NYU” essay did not shine through as much. I felt like my stats and personal essay and research that I did with NYU langone hospital would be enough, since I was looking at the previous acceptance rate of NYU which was 32%! Anyways, I am happy to be attending JHU in the fall and will hopefully make the most of it. NYU wasn’t meant to be I guess. Thanks for all the help @joshua&goldy
Good luck ?
@nerdgirl010115, While JHU’s acceptance rate is pretty stable at 13%, NYU’s has sharply dropped in recent year reported by Washington Post, Class 2017/32%, 2018/36%, 2019/30%, 2020/29%, 2021/27%, 2022/21%, a record breaking low this year at 16% for Class 2023. But you’re good in any way as you already secure an offer from JHU.
So no tisch drama today I’m guessing
Anyone else?
When do guys think they will release the first information about which colleges are full and which ones are not?
@sehsehjiji0909 - last year Tisch notified Drama applicants in early June that the WL acceptance period was over and no slots were left.
Been following this thread since April and got off the wl yesterday for GLS in the spring, which was my second choice! But it’s been 24 hours and when I go to view financial aid it says that it hasn’t been determined yet and when I called the office yesterday they said that packages came out today so??? I only have 40 hours to make a decision now and I probably didn’t get aid??? So guess I’m going to university of Kansas cause I don’t wanna be in this much debt??
My D applied to the dual Stern/Tisch program and was ED waitlisted (no news!). Does anyone know the size of that particular program within Stern and are their any others out there that applied for it?
She has great entrepreneurial EC’s, been on LA film staffs, great grades, 33 ACT, 7 AP’s and outstanding leadership, but I think the rigor of her math curriculum may be a weakness (Calculus, but not AP calc) She has paid her deposit to attend Berkeley - but NYU is her number one and every day is torture for her ( and me - because I like to plan!)
Can anyone tell me any helpful tips about this particular program and if it is rare for Stern to accept student who haven’t “maxed out” the rigor of math in particular?
We’re are trying to decide when to pull the plug on the NYU waitlist - she has to start registering for classes in two weeks and she’s in denial. She’s can’t focus on UCB because of the flicker of hope of going to NYU
@wondering2233 I honestly think Stern cares more about essays. I maxed out on everything 36 ACT math, 800 math II, 5 Calc BC but I got waitlisted (Pretty sure because of weak essays).
thanks Helpbot - still hard to say. Good luck to you!
@wondering2233 Thanks, same to your daughter. Also, does anyone have any idea if Stern will even have another wave. There were acceptances last Tuesday, then a few along the way till today.
CAS anyone???
I’ve seen some movement this week where CAS applicants received offers to start in the Spring semester of 2020 to GLS or LSP but no Fall offers into CAS…
@nicole2023 Hey! I got off the waitlist for Steinhardt spring 2020. Would you add me into the group chat? Thanks!
