I’ve been trying to keep track of the waitlist acceptances in this spreadsheet, and personally I haven’t seen anything for meyers yet. it’s hard to say anything about ed/rd, but it seems like more ed people are being admitted now than they were before, though given the lack of data I’m not sure how accurate that really is
Has anyone else received this kind of email?
I was browsing some of the older NYU waitlist threads and it looks like they sent an almost identical email in 2024 on june 3rd, only for there to be a wave of acceptances on the 14th, and another on the 25th. given the information from the AOs over the past couple weeks, I still think they’ll admit quite a few more people. then again it’s hard to say lol, things seem odd this year.

I hope they take more students from the waitlist. I was praying every day just for this one university. I sincerely hope they admit more students this year as well. Or at least give us a spring admission, but not rejection.

same here! NYU was the only school I applied to (and I mentioned that in my application lol), and I still don’t want to believe they would keep stringing me along for over 6 months for no reason, especially since they know they’re my only option. again it’s hard to say for sure, but personally I still have hope lol

If they are saying their programs are at capacity, the only way they will take more students off their waitlist is if some currently registered students withdraw - most likely reason at this stage would be them getting off other waitlists. Good luck.

I don’t know, I’m not entirely convinced the email was accurate. a couple people called the admissions office last week and got some information that doesn’t really support what was said in the email – one was told that NYU planned to start slowing down waitlist movement around june 15th, another was told NYU was still accepting students off the waitlist for all schools and majors, and another was told they wanted to have waitlist movement wrapped up around july 4th. it seems weird that they would say those things if they weren’t true, and I personally would give more credence to those individual answers rather than the email sent by NYU, especially since similar ones were inaccurate in the past.

I just hope that they will keep on taking more waitlist students. I rejected all my other acceptances just because I only want to attend NYU. And I believe there are others like me who only want NYU, and we truly deserve to get accepted.

Did anyone else also receive this same email today? Or was it just me? I am trying to look for others who got this same email, but unfortunately, I haven’t found anyone else so far.

This is really not a good strategy. What’s your plan B if you don’t get off the waitlist?
Unfortunately it’s not about who deserves what, it’s simply a matter of whether or not there is space in your school.

I already made a mess, so if I don’t get in this time, I will be applying for Fall 27. I know this is not the best thing to do, but I just can’t see myself in any other college other than NYU. Though this is childish, I will try my best, and hopefully something good will happen.

I’m not sure where you think they are “wrong”. They say they are currently at capacity but if space becomes available they will take more people, and the next update at July 1 indicates that they expect the process to be fully complete by then. The only way space becomes available now is if some students currently registered withdraw. That in turn is likely to depend on whether waitlists at (mostly higher ranked) colleges are done, or possibly if internationals have been denied visas and have to withdraw. So yes there could be some spots but the likelihood of a “wave” seems highly unlikely, and the likelihood for any individual right now must be extremely low. Of course wishing you all waiting the best of luck that you are one of the spots.

If you do end up applying again in 2027 - on the one hand, getting waitlisted means you are NYU material, so that’s a positive. On the other hand, you don’t want an unexplained gap year detracting from your application. Regardless of where you apply to for Fall27, make sure that you have a constructive and fulfilling gap year if the waitlist doesn’t work out (for yourself as well as with an eye on college applications).

I just meant that in 2024 (for example), they had sent out a very similar email at the beginning of june, and then sent out waves of acceptances throughout the month. I’m not trying to say that the same thing will absolutely happen this year, just that it wouldn’t be unprecedented.

Not sure if they are still accepting students but I EDed during ED1 as a nursing major was waitlisted. I’ve been going on the portal everyday since and tonight I saw something different… I saw that the warning was gone and I can’t see my checklist, but the housing still displays as Summer 2026 and I can’t see my financial aid either. I’m not sure if the things happen all at once or gradually, but hopefully they are still accepting students off of their waitlist
I did get up getting accepted today, but it was to NYU Shanghai. It ended up being around 50k in total after financial aid and I don’t think I’ll be going. BUT the signs of getting off of the waitlist are true… the banner disappears and your checklist is there, just without anything, then your whole checklist disappears and by the time it reappears, you get an email notifying your application status. Good luck to those who are still waiting to be accepted off of the waitlist
