***Oct 2014 SAT (US ONLY)***

While you’re at it, fill out the Mc Donald’s application nearby your place. Although it’s a reach, I highly advise you to at least fill it out because ya never know!

I got an 800 in CR, 690 Math, 720 Writing with a 10 essay.
AT LEAST I GOT THE SONNY QUESTION RIGHT!!!

TheCalculator goin hard in the paint

lol aight guys, thanks for the advice, however sarcastic. It’s just that in my environment, most of my friends get around 2350 and its rly rly competitive… but i realize its rly unnecessary to retake once you hit a certain point :)

btw, what do you guys think is the stopping point, like say for the ivies? just curious about your opinions…

The IVIES, oh, probably 600.

@sarahere 2250 is generally the borderline for Ivies, though the “comfort zone” is usually 2300+. Anything from 2250-2400 is usually judged similarly, in my own experience.

/sigh/
Just got my scores and I have to retake it in December.
Only 20 points from my goal, too.
AGHHHHHH
Critical Reading screwed me over.
Anyone have tips for CR?

CR: 670
Math: 800
Writing: 730 (w/ a 10 essay)

I am a junior and it’s my first time taking it. I am really aiming for 2300+, so when do you guys think I should retake it? I am thinking about December or January…

I did all the practice tests that CB administered. What should I practice on now? I really feel like my CR and Writing scores can be boosted much more.

Thanks!

I don’t think the passages can get any easier than the ones on this last test. granted I took advantage and got over a 600(610) the passages in March and June were and I quote “awful”

@Dreamchaser178‌ Your score blows mine away but for writing you really can’t do much. just be careful and don’t pay attention to that one idiom question.(half of the people on college confidential got it wrong including experts like pwnthesat and reasonprep) for CR try to answer all of the vocab and for passages try to get rid of answers that can’t be supported AT ALL from the text.

What are some good places to study. I did terrible in reading and writing and under performed on math.
Math: 720 Reading: 580 Writing: 480 Essay: 6
I want to get a 2300 by June and I try to study daily. This was also my first attempt at the SAT.

I think that the curves were just too tough on Math this time.

The curve must have gone like this
0-800
1-770
2-740
3-720
4-799
5-690

October-
CR: 580
MATH: 580
WRITING: 650, 8 essay
1810 total

June-
CR: 570
MATH: 640
WRITING: 600, 7 essay
1810 total

Superscore: 1870

I maybe did a couple hours of studying in between. Since feeling awful about the test a few weeks ago, I’ve been studying about 6 hours a week. I WILL DO THIS. I WILL GET A 2000.
SCs killed me.

@wucommafrances I got a 760 in June and 800 now for CR. This is what I do

Don’t infer anything!!! Always look textual support.

Memorize all the common literary terms (allusion, metaphor, simile, hyperbole etc)

Try to eliminate answers instead of coming up with reasons why an answer is right

Don’t over-think the questions

Start off with questions that refer to specific sentences instead of general ones. ALWAYS save the general questions for last
-When doing the dual passages, answer questions that just reference each passage first. And make you sure you explicitly know the names of the people in the passages so there’s no confusion

Underline extreme statements to help you get a feeling for the tone of a passage

If everything else fails, go with your instinct

Also, I never actually read the entire passage. I just go straight to the marked sentences and read on if necessary. Saves a lot of time

.

The Math curve probably started
0 800
-1 770
-2 750

Because I got 750, while my friend got a 770.

Anyone have any idea when the October 15 School Day SAT scores will be available? I’m really anxious to see how I did now that everyone’s getting their scores from the 11th…

DrDorias’s curve is right I got -2 and 750

Anyone know the damn CR curve. I want to know how the hell I got a 680! Sry about the anger. CR was my best subject on practice and it completely flip flopped. (800 W, 750 M)
