October 2010 - Math II

spatel, according to barrons 10 omitted with all the rest correct is 760. 12 is 740.

what about 4 omitted and like 6-7 wrong?

barrons says 4 omitted 6 wrong is 750

hoping for a 750! i don’t know though. it was pretty hard…

wow, i feel like an ******* for saying this, but I thought the test was easy. In fact, according to the answers so far, it looks like I got every single question right. Sure was nicer than the one I took a year ago.

The only one I’m not 100% sure on is the standard deviation one. I thought the answer was range and standard deviation. Range should be obvious, and standard deviation for the two should be the same according to the standard deviation formula given in the barron’s book (it’s somewhere in the calculator section for older editions and in the chapter right before the practice tests for the newer editions)

HOWEVER, I see some disagreement on this, and statistics isn’t my strong suit. Can anyone confirm this for sure?

Yes, range and standard deviation were both the same…I plugged the 2 sets into my calc and both stdevs were root 10.

i dunno cause i put both in the stat edit in my ti 84 and then 1 variable stats for L1 and L2 and i got different standard dev. but same range and diff. mean …

the range & standard deviation was really simple statistics. the range for both was 8 (8-0=8; 11-3=8), and std. dev. is just the difference between each number. If I remember correctly, and I’m pretty sure I do, the sequences were 0,2,4,6,8 and 3,5,7,9,11. I don’t remember what option I was, because I hurried over the problem but I put only II and III. I think I, II, and III wasn’t even an option.

^ Don’t the ranges have to be exactly the same though? Like all the numbers would be the same?

Oh, it was mean. That’s definitely different. Congrats on all your correct answers. As far as math goes, stat is one of the few things I’m good at. :/

No. Range is largest value minus smallest value.

Oh I think I’m thinking about the range of a graph as in y = …

i didnt get that stats question. was it experimental?

121212
thanks man… im hoping that i get a 700+ (my bottom line is a 680?) but i really am hoping the curve will be greater than in barrons, lol if that is possible…

YES! i got the std dev. and range right!.. lol i had no iudea what stand. dev. was except i remember my sis was asking me if i knew how ot do it on a calc (TI83 hers – TI 89 mine) and i remembered something about a line and points away and i was like i think its std deviation and i know its range… lets go with that!~ lol so happy to know that is what others got!!

I think i’m going to get 800. It was pretty easy comparing to Math I. Math I was just… stupid. ! :(

do you guys know if they number the questions differently? I really don’t remember the first question that’s on the compilation of answers.

whoa, hold on. there are experimental questions?

experimental questions???

EDIT: oh wait… there is only an expiramental sect. for hte SAT easoning. lol… … its cool (i waanna say)…

This test was way harder than the practice test in CB’s book… I think the scale should be at least -8 for an 800… Can this be possible… What do you guys think? Can we predict the scale?
CHEERS!

-8 for 800 would be a bit too much in my opinion i would say around -4 to -5
