October 2011 SAT General Discussion

I think I’m a bit confused when it comes to raw scores or whatever. In March, I got 41 questions right and got 10 wrong, omitted 3, but I still got a 620.

I was under the impression that with only 41 answers correct, and -10, I’d have 41 - (10)(1.25) raw points…which would only give me like, 28 points–something that should be MUCH LOWER than a 620. I might be stressing myself out for no reason on this test because I’m confused about the whole scaled score/raw points business. Any help is appreciated!

@nurture for the different paths i got 20. (5 paths, pick 2)

i think the experimental section was the one thathad the question about 3 lines meeting at a point with one angle 30 + x , the other x+ 40 n the other X + 50 …???

the answer said isosceles RIGHT triangle. 1,1,10; 2,2,8; 3,3,6; 4,4,4; and 5,5,2 do not work, so it could not have been an isosceles RIGHT triangle.

Multiple Choice:

a+b=70- triangle question, a,b,c
1024 for sequential question
f(2x)=(f(x))^2

256 cant remember
0 parallelogram, difference of parallel slopes
t^2-9 one with s^2-81 / s-9 =t^2

22 - average # of members on wednesday

72 - Area of shaded area, rectangle and semicircle

3600 - n=k^2 n divisible by 24 AND 10

10/10 Gridins 24/44 Multiple Choice 36/54 Overall

haha I just saw this… very subtle.

and the answer for the question asking how many combinations of paths the guy could take was 20 (4 available ‘paths’ for each starting path, and a total of 5 possible starting paths).

Yes. I used different reasoning though.

Path 1 has 5 choices. Once you’ve chosen your first path, you have to choose between the 4 left over. So the answer is 5*4, which is 20.

Hey, for people who got the experimental writing section, did any of you remember what the passage was about? Can you describe it in a little more detail? I just remember one writing being alot harder than the other.

when do scores come out?

@hailey1477
Oct 20

@Cortana How did you remember all those questions in the right order? I got all the grid-in’s right! (same answers you got)

was the traveler/lost cr section experimental. if so, predictions for scores?
-3 cr max
-3 grid-in math
-2 writing, essay minimum 10

could we have a consensus on how we thought the sections in general were for better score predictions?
personally:
cr: harder than usual
m: average
w: average

Can someone post their answers for the two Walden/Nature specialized questions?

walden:

 1. human centered
 2. gains and losses

Also, can you post the questions too.^

The questions were, The authors reaction to Walden was :
and The Movement in line 2…:

Does anyone remember what you got for the last CR question for the biography section #24, the author was most concerned with A Political activism B Candor C The human complexity etc. I chose Human complexity

@nurture same, human complexity. i think the majority got that answer

Hmm…I can’t remember the exact question but I’m pretty sure I put down political activism?
