Octogenarian romances? Who has had experience with this with their parents/in-laws?

Way too funny!

It’s a pretty rug! So pretty that she doesn’t want to cover it up!

Fortunately the rug looks to be in good condition and is attractive.

Maybe they will come home and decide there is too much furniture - or that it’s silly to keep it all when they realize that 95% of the time the furniture sits empty.

Choice of furniture style we cannot judge. Most of this furniture was probably bought a few decades ago - but “it’s still in great shape”. What I feel we can comment on is safety - can they come down a hallway into that living room and not catch their foot or a toe or a cane on a piece of furniture? When they are turning lights off at night for bed it is safe to walk through the living room - are the hallways clear?

They can have all the furniture they want. Some people are maximalists!

But wait, you need a TV for a Super Bowl party…

The office looks like a typical retired professor’s office. I have one in my house (husband is a scientist hoarding books and old journal papers); thankfully I can close the sliding doors, and “we don’t talk about Bruno” - unless one of the cats is stuck in there and howling!

We have the primary bedroom rug in our entry hall (a smaller version). It’s perfect to hide the stuff on our feet when we enter the house.

They have all those area rugs. At this pint, they look nice, but if anyone becomes a trip risk or needs to use a Walker, they might need to go. But that’s not @Hoggirl problem.

The circle of chairs is just too many chairs. How many desks do they need. There is a slant top in the hallway too.

Re the small tables in the garage…my opinion is they all need to be donated elsewhere. The butlers table is not the right size for the white couch. But that’s my opinion.

There is a piece of furniture on just about every inch of wall space in that living room.
I think the primary bedroom looks spacious compared to the other rooms…until they start stacking things on the chair!

In my experience, chairs in bedrooms always come to hold the half-dirty clothes.

But where will the monkey pictures go?

$20 says that the MIL is going to be irritated in some way at the Church of Chairs. :joy:

I was thinking more like an AA meeting. Hi, I’m MIL, and I’m a tiny table addict.

oh oh! I have a design idea!

Swap out the TV and hang the monkey pictures above the TV stand. And line up all of the chairs and couches so it’s set up like an altar. Sort of like in Men in Black when they open up the locker and all the little aliens shout out “ALL HAIL JAY!”
