Official 2005 - 2011 Decision Thread

Decision: Accepted

Stats:
SAT: Took the old one never took new one, verbal: 770, Math 800
SAT IIs: Math II 790, Chem. 800, physics 800
AP scores: (I’m proud of these regardless cause I actually learned how to study just for these) Chem 5, Physics B 5, Physics C mechanics 5, Physics C (E and M) 4 Eng. 4 U.S. history 4 (and calculus AB 3 how can I get a 5 on physics calculus but a 3 on this?) (Anybody know any reason to take APs this year?)
GPA: What is a GPA? Joking, my school is a total joke, grade inflation makes this irrelevant.
Rank: 5/480
Other stats:
Subjective: I got my valedictory to write student evaluation, I don’t know if that was to smart… but she’s nice so it was probably ok.
Essays: My writing style is my own, so they might have hated it but I got in so probably not.
Teacher Recs: Very poor, I was a terror to them so…
Counselor Rec: Very good, spent a lot of time getting to know them (teachers REALY didn’t like me)(not only reason and some teachers did like me kinda).
Hook (if any): I did some unsuccessful independent research on… (If you really want to know my AIM name is TJRosche)
Location/Person: Texas, Mission (basically where the border with Mexico meets the coast)
State or Country: TX, USA-kinda
School Type: Public-mediocre is euphemistic
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male
Intended Major: I’m hoping to do multiple majors if you have any knowledge on this pls tell me.
Major strength/weakness: I am really good test taker; truthfully I didn’t study for SAT but for about 6 hours. UM weakness, I live in a difficult place to get cool extra circulars, also I didn’t REALY care about going to a good school till like sophomore year when I took SATs. Also, I’m not so great with people I normally put them off by being, something. My sister has a word for it.

Extra request. High school is boring I only have two more classes and Dartmouth doesn’t send out un-acceptance letters unless you FAIL (or get D) in two classes (not that I’m planning to mess up at all) just saying I’m up for talking to anyone w/ all my spare time. Also, although would normally be against my personal ethics to be exuberantly happy about something like a school. YAAAAAAAA!!! …YAAAA!!! … All my shirts say Dartmouth now, or Life is good. (I haven’t been beat up at school for it yet, but it would be worth it).

Ok now this is important, so answer carefully… are you SURE that the dartmouth un-acceptance letters are only sent out for an F or two D’s? not like, keep everything above an 80 deal?

My counselor told me that if you do get into the D’s and F’s, or maybe even multiple C’s, the college that accepted you will send you a form to explain why you didn’t continue at “the level of our expectations.” So, my counselor has had many people receive the form, but only one person rejected in the end because he went on vacation and decided to not turn the form in at all.

As far as I know, that might not be far. Its a combination of 2 D’s or F’s or GPA drops below 2.0 . If anyone else has any good info on this I would also like to know.

guys, this is also my question. Since I was accepted, I havent been keeping up with my work as I wanted to explore new fields(tired of chemistry and physics). So do they ask for your final grades

Yes they the college does require a copy of your final transcript

Jen!!!

Decision: Accepted!!!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=1727008#post1727008

I think Melo has been accepted to every school on this board! with as much time as he spends on here, it’s no wonder his scores aren’t higher!! Ouch…

DUMBASSES!!! i was talking about my friend muhammed shakoor. he goes to my school and was accepted a coupla weeks ago. duh. ive already told yall i was a girl!!!

and hoping i didnt even APPLY to every school on this board.

and last thing hoping. seriously. making fun of someones SAT scores is real low. thats real real dirty. and plus you gotta be a big ass lame to think u could offend someone by it. get a life.

I’m quite psyched.

So, because I want to procrastinate… My stats:

SAT I: 800 Critical Reading, 800 Writing, 660 Math (I can’t count, honestly)
SAT IIs: 800 Spanish, 770 U.S. History, 740 Literature
Rank: 1 out of 124
APs: AP Scholar with Distinction; by the end of the year, I’ll have completed eleven courses.
Teacher Recs: We’re not allowed to see them, but I assume they were stellar. Pre-slacker days, I was a favorite.
Counselor Rec: Again, we’re not allowed to read recommendations. Nevertheless, I hope it was pretty good.
Interview: Excellent.
Extracurriculars: I’m a member of a number of clubs, and I’m captain of the school’s Knowledge Bowl team, as well as Chief Editor and co-founder of the school’s newspaper. I do a lot of swimming in my free time.
Hook: I’m passionate about journalism-- I was an intern at La Prensa, my country’s largest newspaper, and I worked with a USA Today correspondent on a feature story about Daniel Ortega. I’m currently hammering out a story on female convicts, again for La Prensa.
Essays: I wrote one about being an odd duckling in my AP English Lit. class (I was a fourteen-year-old sophomore who had been accelerated into a previously all-senior class.) The other essay was about my experiences with the USA Today correspondent-- following Ortega’s campaign trail, the interview itself, etc. My father was jailed by Ortega during the Sandinista regime, so meeting Ortega was a strong emotional and intellectual experience.
Location: In case it wasn’t obvious-- Managua, Nicaragua, of Iran-Contra infamy.
Other Thoughts: I have a really wry sense of humor, and I can be obnoxiously cheery.
