Official 2011 AP Chemistry Thread

It involved a change in colors

Eh, it is what it is. One exam down, five to go for me, so I’ll worry about it after my last one, which is next Thursday. I’ve developed a remarkable amount of exam Zen.

There was a fire drill during the MC section at my school… =

@ khaos, is your school retaking it? that’s bad.

and exam zen? does that mean calmness? because it’s strange… but i never feel “stressed” for things before it happens… however, after an exam, extreme “curiosity” kicks in :p

ok, just one question…
any of you get a diagonal edcba in the first row near bottom in mc?
things like that both me :P

YES I got the diagonal as well. And it was a complete diagonal (or maybe almost complete), not a distorted one.

@ccesssu OK, so I have at least 5 MC questions correct.

@ccesssu: Yes I did!
And I also got 3 E’s in a row later on.
Lots of double letters,
ex) AA CC DD
(don’t remember exact answers or where they were, but there were lots of weird patterns like that!)

I did…twice…
like one was a direct complete diagonal, and then right after that was a distorted diagonal

HAHAHA i love how you guys remember these things. it’s funny

oh no I don’t remember if I got the diagonal!
Darn, that would have been helpful.

haha yes!! edcba!..so i feel like i got a 75% on the mc…but the frq…those were deadly…probably a 30%…i literally had half of part A done and it was time for part B, i took the last 5 mins. of part B to go back to Part A and fill out half the test…

Fu** 0 order reactions…just a general statement…

Say I took Chemistry Honors and got a 790 on the June Chem SAT last year. If I’m taking AP Chemistry at right now, what do you think my chances of getting a 5 are?

crap I think I got that diagonal and then changed some answers because it bothered me…

You’re defn. right about that…hours of our life…countless days spent studying and wasting weeks in class for stuff that doesn’t even show up on the AP Exam…how annoying is that…

@yumi, no, we all just looked up and stared at the proctors with “Are you f***ing serious” written on our faces =P Then they told us to keep working and made a few calls to make the alarms stop. And no, we didn’t get any extra time. We just had to work through the whole mess.

Personally, I had some extra time for the MC anyway - it was the FRQ that was just killer, since it was both difficult and time-consuming.

Well, after self-studying for AP Chemistry, I have mixed feelings about the test. The multiple choice was pretty easy, but the free response, particularly Part A, was disastrous. I thought I knew equilibrium too… D:

1: Good during (a) and (b), but I hit a brick wall at (c) and (d) - I spent too much time trying to figure them out when I should have cut my losses and moved on

2: Relatively straightforward, but I was pretty rushed and because I had self-studied, I had not done a lab like that befoe

3: Most were simple problems, but I literally had eight minutes left so I had to cram all my writing in - don’t know if I made any mistakes

4: I was relieved after seeing those equations, since I know they could have been worse; not sure about equation (b), however

5: Easiest of the free response

6: It took me a while to interpret the graph, but I think I got it

Overall the FR was much more difficult than previous years’ questions. All I can hope for is for my multiple choice to bring my score up and for the curve to be generous. xD

So how hard was the test? I was extremely sick so I couldn’t take it. ):

I’m valedictorian at my school, have gotten all As in chem all year, and plan to major in chem in college…that being said, the frq were still hard as s***. No previous years were ever like this ■■■
