Dear lord…I better prepare hard core for the make up then…
All of you sound like Nam survivors.

marking this thread :)

@yumikimnguyen:
WHAT.
Great I didn’t notice that either.
WOOOOOW I didn’t even see that!

Also you probably shouldn’t be that specific.

Hey anyone remembers what other questions did they ask on the last problem besides the rate law one?.. I totally missed the rate law one but hopefully I would get some points from other questions.
Can PM me if want to be specific…

@abrayo
boo. should i just report it as an ap violation post and try to get my post deleted?

My thoughts:

-MC: Eh, it was alright. Skipped a lot, but I was probably able to answer like maybe 30-35 or so for sure. I took advantage of the no guessing penalty though. :D

-FRQ: OMG. I pretty much skipped like 75% of the FRQ. Made the dumbest mistake EVER on 1a…but I DEFINITELY know that I got 1b right. C and D I left blank…
I was NOT prepared for 2 and 3. #2…answered 2 sub-questions. #3 covered topics that I hadn’t even learned yet, so I left it blank, except for one question.

4 - LOL. I only filled in two reaction boxes, and I don’t even think that they were right. And I didn’t answer any of the questions.

5 - Not as bad as 2&3. I was able to do 3 sub-questions.

6 - DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THIS ONE. I only answered one that I absolutely knew. For 2 sub-questions, I put some BS answers that probably won’t even get me any credit.

Yeah. Did anyone do as poorly as I did? I’m probably guaranteed a 1 or 2…3 if I get extremely lucky.

The power went out at my school two times during the test. We had to close our booklets as soon as it was dark. It delayed the test for about 10-15 minutes. Apparently, if it had delayed it by 20-30 minutes, we would have had to retake the exam, and honestly, I don’t think I would have minded that!

I came into the testing room thinking I knew enough to guarantee at least a 3, but with high probability of getting a 4, and a good chance of getting a 5, but wow. Now I am just hoping I can get a 3. :/

Everyone is saying the test was hard.
I don’t know if this is just collegeboard trying to put as many elimination-for-success type questions on the mc, but widespread failure on a board of overachievers probably means good news with the curve.

I probably would’ve wasted a good 5 minutes deciding whether or not to skip certain questions if the penalty was there so it’s good that it’s not.

I don’t even know what was up with the free response. That was just insane at the beginning but I think it was designed with the idea that:

1 was meant to be hard, but the way the problems were divided made it so some could get good partial credit for a and b

2 was lab but fairly “easy” and doable with some common sense (I still think it was hard as **** though)

3 was also easy but a topic some schools don’t get to completely do. It was made to be doable for anyone who knew the topics.

4 was the usual but I definitely ****ed it up

5 and 6 were easy but 6 needed careful attention to detail.

For a test this hard, anyone who thinks pessimistically should continue to do so. It’ll be a relief when the scores come and you were a grade or two higher than you thought you would be.

As the general consensus is that it was much harder (at least the FR portion) than previous years, I feel safe in saying the curve will be very generous despite the elimination of the guessing penalty.

AGREE or DISAGREE?

Are we allowed to mention if the test was easy or hard or do we have to wait 48 hours?

Yes the test was more difficult than usual but my class in general didn’t have that much trouble. Even with 3 of our strongest students at SciBowl Nationals, about 1/2 of the remaining 20 of us finished the MC with at least 15 minutes to go, half of those sleeping with 30 minutes. FRQ’s were harder and I don’t think anyone got perfect, but the only questions that gave more than a few people trouble were 4B and 7. Yes it was difficult and a little obscure but it was definitely doable within the time period, even though literally none of us studied this weekend due to our teacher’s instructions. The curve shouldn’t be to drastic.

I think personal difficulty can be mentioned, but specific questions about the FR are not allowed until Green Packets are passed back in your chemistry class (48 hours?), and MC questions are never to be discussed.

^^it was definitely much harder compared to previous frq’s from past years. I think curve will be genorous, but not like 55%-60% for a 5. Probably be 66% for a 5 with the subtraction of guessing penalty, but i’m just straight up guessing. What surprised was how little (delta)G=(delta)H-T(delta)S equation was tested, my teacher said that was one of the major topics along with acid/base and equilibrium.

My confidence in my MC has been going up since I took the test, but my confidence in my free response has been going down. Soooo much lab concepts were involved in frq. I liked #3 the best (it was still hard). I don’t even remember the question #5 at all, but i remember that that one wasn’t too bad. 1c&d, 2, 4 (complex ion part), and 6 were pretty hard.

Edit: I also got the edcba backward diagonal line near the end of the 1st column.

overall i didn’t think the exam was too bad, really my only problem was time and not pacing myself well. otherwise i think i did fine.

@enferrari: We’re not supposed to reveal anything about the MC (absolutely nothing), but for the FR, we can discuss it 48 hours after the exam.
@AxelNofz: Yea, I do agree. I didn’t pace myself too well, but I did try to answer all the questions. The bubbling was very tiring, especially when I had to make sure that every oval was filled in completely.

i legit haven’t found an MC question i’ve got wrong yet, so i think i missed very little. the free response pretty much destroyed me. hopefully there is a large curve and i get to a 5… i really want one, and i studied way to much to not get one…

well if we think a minute for the 2008 exam with out the guessing penalty a 5 was a 60%. Personally I felt that the mc on 2008 was easier than the mc this year. And Id say the same thing for the FRQs. So Id say we’d be able to predict a curve under 60% for a 5.

Typically, is the SAT Chemistry subject test easier than the AP test? I’m taking it this Saturday and thought I was ready, but yesterday’s test destroyed my confidence…

Guys…can we discuss the free response at midnight tonight? D: tomorrow is my birthday and I don’t know if I should wait until the day after or not to discuss because I don’t want it to be ruined by finding out that I got 90% of the free response wrong! :(

And I’m also considering not going to school because I know we will be discussing it in AP Chemistry as well.
