^^^^ If I were you I would let a week or so go by, and then e-mail the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, or have your daughter do it. Maybe with the Thanksgiving holiday, they’re backed up. In my experience, I usually get an e-mail in reply pretty quickly. You never know. You don’t want your daughter to be the one who falls through the cracks!

how do i input my values !! cant get it to work

LurkNess – Thanks…I did email a note to the admissions counselor that she was assigned to who sent back a quick standard — Award notifications usually come within 2 weeks. Nothing specific really. It looks like on this board that they had generally been coming immediately after the honors admission letter. I will follow up because I don’t want her to fall through the cracks as Pitt is definitely very high on her list.

In U.S. for seven years.

Comments: hoping for a full scholarship!!!

We waited for the 2 weeks and still nothing. We contacted the contact on the letter who just said that her file showed honors but no merit. My daughter was advised to email to have her application reviewed again. Unfortunately there were no specific instructions as to who to email.

Here stats are:
1450 (720CR/720M)
Perfect 4.0 unweighted
4.9+ weighted
AP scholar with honors
Officer in 3 academic clubs
Part Time Job
Volunteer work

Does this make sense…wouldn’t it seem logical that she would get some merit money? If she doesn’t, unfortunately, Pitt will definitely be off the list as far as I, her mother, am concerned. My daughter is equally disgusted…too bad.

Yes, her stats are in line with others who have gotten merit $$$$. However Pitt has never put in “exact” words as to what will get a full tuition, partial tuition or any scholarship $$$$. Last year, there were kids who had great stats (like your daughter) but got nothing!!!

Like I have said in the past, don’t automatically expect scholarship $$$$ but if it comes, be thankful :)

Is there a mistake in your posting? You have 1450 (720CR/720M). But that adds up to 1440. That might make a difference. Even so, your daughter would be in line for a $10,000 annual scholarship.

She should e-mail the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. And she may have received a list of the admissions officers. She might want to direct her e-mail to the person on the list who handled her application (I think it’s alphabetical).

We’re in the same boat, AdvicePlease, although my son’s stats are not nearly as stellar as your daughters (34 ACT/3.7 UW GPA). As an OOS, he was very hopeful for a scholarship when the honors college/grad school things came, but will now have to write Pitt off because it is far too expensive for an OOS. Lucky for us, UW-Madison (in-state) and UM-Twin Cities (tuition reciprocity) are both very desirable choices for him.

MTnest – I understand what you’re saying but my daughter is not just a good test taker…or a good studier (perfect 4.0 – not a single B and 8 APs…4 this year and 4 completed.) She’s all that and so much more. (I’ll acknowledge maybe a little bias here as I am her mother!) I really think that her paperwork was lost in the shuffle…and it will be difficult to convince me otherwise!

No matter at this point as she has already received a full-tuition scholarship to another university that also professional health care schools. We sure did like the Cathedral of Learning and the description of the honors college…who very quickly accepted her!

We would, of course, be thankful if an academic merit award came her way from Pitt and she will follow up.

Lurkness – Yes there was a mistake in my posting! 730M and 720 Verbal = 1450. She also has a 5 in AP Bio, a 5 in AP Stats in her sophomore year and is an AP scholar with honors and has a perfect 4.0 unweighted. She had a 770 SATII Bio and a 730 SAT II US History. She has been emailing with the application processor (based on letter of last name) but I think she should email the admissions office.

S1732 – It’s frustrating isn’t it…I’m glad your son has other options as does my daughter. I did love our visit to Pittsburgh though…very cool city!

AdvicePlease, I know. He loves everything about Pitt, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. I’m sure he’ll be happy where ever he lands. In these times, I think that there are many more students who will need to make decisions based on finances (although I believe that most folks already do).

S1732 – Exactly…my daughter has already looked at the school that has offered her full tuition and as she has taken (and will take) some very difficult science AP exams she will have about 40 credits done. She was accepted into the Honors college at this school and will have great dorms…still she would have liked to have had a “real” choice of going to Pitt.

All that is meant to be is meant to be I suppose.

WOW, your daughters sounds like a really driven young lady. I am positive that something strange happened with the paperwork at Pitt and she will indeed get the full tuition scholarship. She certainly deserves it. Then we will all celebrate with you!

S1732, you know for sure that your son didn’t get a merit scholarship from Pitt? With a 34 ACT?

S1732 – You are very sweet…and I can’t imagine that your son with a 34 ACT wouldn’t get a great merit award!!! It almost seems as if they award full tuition to students who only have Pitt as a backup.

So not to get too weird for you but == Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be) – remember the Doris Day show.

Best of luck!

LurknessMonster, S hasn’t called to check on the scholarship status, but it has been quite awhile since he was accepted.

AdvicePlease, I think that Doris Day had the perfect outlook on life - especially when it comes to college admissions!

I guess we’re in the same boat. My daughter has a 1480 (2240 total) and not a word about scholarship money. Perhaps she waited too long to apply (Nov. 6). Has anyone been admitted in November and been awarded money?

If it were me or my kid, and the student’s stats are within the parameters for a scholarship, I would contact Pitt without hesitation after three weeks or so have gone by. You have nothing to lose, and quite a bit to gain. Any time I have called Pitt, I have found the people to be competent and very nice.
