Well, I prefer my 35 ACT, but nothing to schlep about given my absolute lack of preparation :slight_smile: In fact, the only section I really studied for was writing since that was also my bum score on the psat that kept me out of nmsf consideration. It is funny, however, to see the differences in how one does on the two tests and compare subscores. Since the ACT was structured much like the experimental portion of my SAT (overall improving long stretches of writing instead of random “What’s wrong with this sentence? TELL ME.” or short two paragraph improvements), I found myself with a 35 subscore on this. Highlights to me how one test can be far better suited for an individual than another.

Do you think it’s possible for me, a spohmord becoming a junior, to be able to raise my 2160 to a 2300 by January ? I was able to raise my 1860 October psat to 2160 this test. But I’ve gotten all the easy math points and improvement can only come from the CR/writing sections. Btw: 800M 690W 8essay, 670 CR this time

2400! Yay

Is CB still allowing us to request 4 free score reports for the June sitting?

I read somewhere that they were extending the deadline because of the debacle, but now I can’t find the original source of that info.

2040 (680 straight) what

Composite- 2030

Writing- 650 (9 on the essay)
I’m rather disappointed, even though I wasn’t expecting much (my area of the country prefers the ACT). Does anyone have any tips on how to raise my scores? I’m considering a prep book, but are there any self-study methods that are more effective? I’d love to raise my score ultimately over a 2200. Is that implausible?

Does anyone think college board will give a few extra points to the Math or CR sections? It seems as if everyone’s score went down

@doctor19 lol no

Any recommendations of practice books/websites to raise CR score?

@jason112
I skipped nothing

Wow. These scores are never going anywhere.

I took the June ACT a week after, and got a 35. At least ACT, Inc. knows how to administer a test properly…

Got an 1860. I am moving on and taking the act because they absolutely know how to administer a test and they aren’t the type of company that penalizes you for THEIR mistakes. This sat was not standarized in my opinion.

For those asking about books for CR, I strongly recommend Erica Meltzer’s The Critical Reader. There’s also a lot of great information on old threads on this forum.

CR: 710

really glad the cr curve only hit me a bit was aiming for 2300+ and got it :smiley:

^Great job, especially that essay!

This test I feel was not standardized. I got:
690 math I think -4
530 cr
610 w (8essay)
Composite-1830
I know for sure I did really well on the two sections they cut out. The math was extremely easy on the section they cut out. The hardest question was the surface area question which was really easy and I thought the Easter island passage was a lot easier than the Jane Austen and history book passages. I feel that if they didn’t cut out those sections I would have had.
Math- 710-720
Cr- 580-600
W-same
This is potentially a 90 point increase which is a lot. They should have a retest in the summer so we don’t have to wait until October. I hope those law suits will send them a message. I thought the curves were a little harsh as well especially the math and writing.

2140 total
780 CR
720 W
640 M (?)
Now I have 2160 superscored… I guess I’m retaking :((

Wait so I have a really important question about the “free” October 3 SAT. If I decide to call Collegeboard and request a free SAT for October, does that mean my scores for June will be deleted?

@Em1509 I advise sticking to official CollegeBoard material… their questions are the only ones that really feel like the ones on the test. Just take practice tests and practice tests and practice tests and you’ll get the hang of it. For vocab, rote memorization doesn’t work for me. I think you learn best from reading books, studying parts of words, doing crosswords, etc. But quizlets don’t hurt.
