the letter was dated the 9th. it said they were letting me know early so i could plan to go to their admissions reception next tuesday.

Strengths: Dynamic, well-rounded, and committed. Although I didn’t have the strongest test scores, I did stand out of my class by excelling in things I was passionate about - running, writing, and community service.
Weaknesses: I occupied an AWFUL sleep schedule my junior and senior year. Being the first to go to state from my school meant morning practices. Sleeping at 12-3 am and waking up at 5:30 to do intervals did a number on me. Personally, I never reached my full potential in academics and I think I can change that come next fall.
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I showed that I was not only different from the rest of my class, in terms of athletics and academia, but also genuine. I maintained a solid, but not impossible, schedule throughout my four years, taking around 2-3 AP’s my junior and senior year.

Weaknesses: SAT score wasn’t THAT great (2070) and band brings my weighted GPA from a 4.3 to a 4.2. But it just goes to show you that numbers aren’t all that matters.
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Because my extra curriculars, grades, and scores were all around good, and I am well rounded. Also leadership and the medical mentorship.

General Comments: I AM SO HAPPY I GOT IN! UCLA IS MY #1! I also went in for an interview because I applied for the UCLA Alumni Scholarship and I got called back for an interview! It went well. All in all, I’m extremely happy! And it just goes to show you that NUMBERS AREN’T ALL THAT MATTERS. My friend with a 2300 and 4.5 got waitlisted to UCLA and me, with a 4.2 and 2070, I got in over him!!! Extra curriculars and leadership reeeeeeeeeeeeally matter!! So get involved!
