<p>hm, i got into bc today.</p>
<p>I’ve talked to a friend who goes there now and she says the divide between athletes and non-athletes is very noticeable, especially at Val. :(</p>
<p>Amherst fields the same number of athletic teams as a bigger university does, and so they have to recruit a ton of athletes. I think something like half the student population plays a sport, so yes, Amherst is pretty athletic. I’d put it on the same level as Williams in terms of athleticism, though I’ve heard Amherst students tend to be quite well-rounded, and I don’t know if that’s true for Williams too.</p>
<p>I hope you guys do get in! If we all matriculate, I expect we’ll be hanging out together as the nonathletes!</p>

Their admissions were friggin RIDICULOUS this year!</p>
<p>^^Agreed! Their regular decision acceptane rate was around 10%. I was waitlisted :(. Hoping to hear better news from the Herst on Friday!!! </p>
<p>On another note, you guys are awesome! Love reading your convos and I really hope it’s indicative of the student body at Amherst :P. Where are all you internationals from? My parents almost moved to Poland before my sophomore year, unfortunately they decided to move to Georgia (the state) instead :/</p>

<p>jimonthewall…definitely NOT a deal breaker. The beauty of Amherst is that there’s so much to do. If it’s not sports, it’ll be something else. You don’t have to force yourself to like sports if it’s not exactly your bag. The whole athletic aspect adds to the school, it certainly doesn’t make it a reason not to go.</p>

<p>Yes but is the financial aid office themselves emailing the individual students and asking for financial aid documents? I don’t see why they didn’t email students notifying them of the link and telling them to update their documents. Unless the college initiates direct contact requesting docs, I wouldn’t think much of it.</p>
<p>With Barnard, they actually sent me an email a week before decisions were coming out and they asked me to clarify something in my docs. To me, that means an acceptance. A link on a website where the people at the admissions office didn’t even believe it was there - that doesn’t sound very promising. It sounds sketchy. </p>
<p>Please don’t stress out over this. With my experiences, the more you over think something, the more often it is bound to never happen. Just ride it out for 2 mo’ days.</p>

<p>Krafty, you can try to stay off CC for two days, but in my experience, trying to avoid this site doesn’t work. Ever. I know. I’ve tried.</p>
<p>Wait, what I posted earlier (fin-aid info. still not updated on site) is true. Unfortunately, I still have no idea what financial aid issue you guys are talking about. The financial aid award letter was mailed 5 days later the decision letter, and at the bottom, it said that the office STILL needed more information! Wouldn’t it have made more sense to contact me by email sooner? So I guess the bottom line is there’s no reason to worry because of communication (or lack thereof) initiated by the financial aid office.</p>

<p>Some schools that accepted me didn’t ask me to clarify anything in my finaid docs, or even remind me to submit tax returns. So, I don’t know how much weight to give that letter about finaid. Maybe two grains of salt?</p>
