I was talking to kiterunner - these boards are gunna be PACKED on Friday. Hahaha. I’m seriously considering the idea that the servers at CC might crash because of the overload.

DC - I followed up on FinAid docs with colleges and was pretty naggy in terms of what needed to be in and what didn’t. FinAid be important, yo’. Hahaaaa. :P

Ok I apologize for spreading the panic, I think I got ahead of myself.
Haha but like considering UPenn practices that, it wouldnt surprise me if Amherst did the same… buuuut thats just a wide generalization so I guess we shouldnt panic

PS.

If you think Friday will be packed, just WAIT until April 1st! Ahhhh the tension! lol =P. I think I’m being too melodramatic, meh, blame the Bollywood movies.

I hope you guys get in! This thread is 100x livelier than the Facebook group for c/o 2014, so we need to crash the discussion forum on the group and liven it up.

For the sake of conversation, who’s considering Amherst as their first choice? What other schools would you choose over Amherst? Feel free to answer on Friday. (I know my friend hates speculating about college decisions and assuming things about college before it’s all set.)

I wouldn’t consider Amherst my first choice (that would be Dartmouth), however, considering I was deferred from Dartmouth ED, Amherst is my de facto number one. If that makes any sense haha. I say this because Dartmouth accepts less than 5% of ED deferrals.

I will love to go wherever I get accepted in the States. As a Canadian, I really dread the large, dead universities found here. Ughh lol, I love the liberal arts damn it!

But to answer your question, I would choose HYP over Amherst. As for the lower Ivies, I’m not really sure at this point. I don’t want to start ranking, fall in love with a certain school even more and then ultimately be rejected.

(okay this is really late and all- THIS THREAD MOVES LE FAST- but thank you milkcandy and NYSpinnerDan! The people on this board are so nice :D)

Also, to whoever is worrying about the financial aid thing: DON’T WORRY! CC has this awful habit of making you worry about insignificant things. Now, I’m trying to use my logical brain and not freak out at the fact that I haven’t got an email from P’ton with instructions on how to check my decision on D-day. *** haha)

I never got a Pton email too. Whatever, my interviewer hated me.

slaps Quasi You are much better than me, so don’t make me feel inferior.

I love you! Vassar and Amherst are my first choices.

EDIT : This is so late but ladoos are amazing. You have to try them. I’m sure they have them at Amherst. I ate at a small little Indian restaurant when I visited Amherst’s college town.

Quasi, isn’t Williams needblind for internationals this time around? Or have they already gone need-aware?

EDIT 2 : I didn’t apply to Williams because I read somewhere that they tipped cows over and I was horrified. I mean it was just a comment on one of those review boards but still. True or not, I crossed Williams off my list, generous as they are.

meghnasridhar rider is right - amherst financial aid is a force to be reckoned with.
Sigh, I like this forum so much, but I highly doubt that I’ll get into the school.

AHH! after tonight, only one more sleep to decision day! oh oh oh i can only hope and pray that it’ll be good news on the 26th good luck everyone!!

I think its disgusting that they only announced it conveniently after soliciting all the applications. At least Dartmouth says they’re only rescinding the no-loan policy next cycle.
