Official Biomedical Sciences Interviews/Acceptances 2009

The person at Vandy wanted to suggest that I apply to the IGP program as well. I guess that is a good sign.

BBS? That surprises me… they have a visiting day mid-february. So, logically they should let people know beforehand, no?

Anyone heard from Rockefeller?

Harvard BBS starts informing in February but the official physical letter comes a lot later.

fishy333,

I got an email from Rockefeller yesterday asking to confirm my address so they could fedex a package… Don’t know what the package is but I’m going to take it as a good sign for now.

lajkfdgi or anyone else that would know:

Does Rockefeller separate incoming grad students by department or just into the graduate school?

Since I didn’t get an email confirming my address :frowning: I’m hoping there may be different departments that are sending out packages. But doubtful.

I can’t take this waiting!!!

Ok, worrying was for nothing. Call from WashU today for Jan 23rd interview weekend.

oh no, they asked because my school address wasn’t recognized by fedex. I don’t think they usually email about it, because they didn’t tell me what’s in the package (ugh!)… and I didn’t apply to any specific department, so I have no idea how they separate grad students

thanks lajkfdgi. Do they just send acceptances or interviews first? From previous years it sounds like its just acceptance/rejection.

Has anyone heard anything from Harvard HILS - Chembio? It seems that a lot of people have heard from the other HILS programs…I’m still waiting with crossed fingers!

I am asking this question for my daughter who is very busy with things on her own computer right now:

She just received an invitation to NYU for a “prospective doctoral student’s weekend” for the neuroscience phd program. Does anyone know if this is pretty much for accepted students (they call it an “open house”, not “interview weekend”)??

Rockefeller fedexes a package to accept you. They accept you prior to interviews. THey also have several rounds of acceptances, so don’t worry about not getting a package yet.

BBS also accepts prior to interviews, but they call you to let you know that you have been accepted, the actual acceptance letter doesn’t come until relatively later. BBS also accepts in several rounds, I got my acceptance pretty late last year (mid feb)

Harvard systems bio lets you know early, as does UW genome sciences, since their interviews are relatively early. The other major programs should start releasing interview requests in the next week or so.

ec1234: when you say BBS which university are you referring to? Contextually, I would guess Harvard…

So my friends and I have applied to the following Neuroscience PhD Programs and not heard back from ANY of them yet… which ones should we count out? Sounds like Yale, Columbia, and Cornell have already send out interview invitations… is that correct? Long list between us, I know! God, this feels like applying to college all over again…!

Rockefeller
Stanford
Weill Cornell
Harvard
Yale
Brown
Columbia Med
NYU Sackler
Albert Einstein
Mt. Sinai
Princeton
Johns Hopkins
MIT
BU
Northwestern
Stony Brook
UCSD

Jarlyan, I got an interview invite to northwestern neuroscience last week, but they have three different weekends (2 of which are in feb.) so they might give more rounds of interviews?

Hey jarlyan,

I can’t answer your question about all of your schools; I only applied for neuro at Brown. All I have heard is that they will contact us soon.

Anyone heard from OHSU or Minnesota Neuroscience?

redoc,

Could you post the date of the UW Pathology interview weekend? When did you turn in your app? Thanks!

Jarlyan: I just received an email invite for an interview at NYU Sackler on Feb 5-6. I didn’t apply to the neurosci program, but the email didn’t mention a specific program. They said they have other interview dates available so they’re probably sending out invitations in waves. Also I received an interview from Weill Cornell (but once again I applied to the Pharmacology dept). Good luck!

what are the dates of the northwestern interviews? did they say how many people would be at each?

mine at northwestern is jan. 21-23 or something like that. the dates are all posted on the nuin webpage under the calendar or events link…sorry i forget the ones in feb.
