Mid February??? I may well decide on a different program by then. Oh well.

Why would you decide before then? The deadline is April 15, I don’t see why you would be forced to choose before then.

I got called while on my second interview weekend, and before I had heard back from my first interview, so chances are you won’t have decided by then, although it can be a pain to fit in a visiting weekend at that point.

Hey everyone. I’ve been watching this thread, so thanks for all of the input everyone.

Just got an invitation from MIT CSBi. Not sure if anybody else applied, but if you did, good luck. :)

Why would you decide before then?

Accommodating my wife’s job switch.

Has anyone heard from Stanford Developmental Bio? I’m running into scheduling conflicts with interviews, but I’m trying to hold out as long as possible in making firm plans in the hopes I’ll get an interview there.

Anyone have any insight as to if people have heard or when we can expect to hear??

Thanks!

Heard from UCHICAGO Biomed cluster today.

Still waiting for Harvard BBS.

Accepted: Rockefeller
Interviews: Gerstner, Yale, MIT, Berkeley, Stanford, UChicago, Weill Cornell

I’m absolutely confused about my choices now. I absolutely love Rockefeller and it’s right in the heart of the city I love. Then there are places like Berkeley and Yale and Stanford and MIT that do amazing science. I don’t know where I’ll end up.

Those are some great choices funky.

Aren’t Gerstner’s interviews taking place right now? Are you on your interview there funkybuddha? lol If so, hope it’s going well!

Interview at Vanderbilt in IDP (microbiology)

I’m more than a little surprised at this since I had thought they were done passing out interviews. Don’t know the dates yet but I’m just hoping my husband can fit it in. How are you all working in interviews with school? He’s got physics II, analytical chem., art history and lab class. As cool as it is he’s getting interviews it’s more than a little stressful.

I got an email invitation from Northeastern on 1/18.

The graduate school process is seriously stressing me out. I am applied to all New England Schools. They are as follows:

Harvard-MCB
Tufts Sackler
Boston University
Brown University
Brandeis University
MIT
Umass Worcester

Interviewed at Brandeis
Upcoming interview: BU, Umass Worcester
Waiting: Harvard (most likely rejected), Tufts and Bu

The question I have is about MIT I was contacted via email about a week ago and it stated I was placed on a wait list(Microbiology). So I have never heard this term used for graduate school only for under grad or medical school. So I called the admissions office and they just stated I have been placed on a wait list for further evaluation. So its like a in between stage you have not been rejected nor asked for an interview. I over heard someone in my lab today saying there is no such thing as a wait list and for grad school you either have been accepted or rejected. So I freaked out I know what I saw in the email and it clearly stated I was placed on a wait list and the admission office confirmed it. So for extra confirmation I called up a former MIT grad and yes there is something called a wait list but most schools will not notify the students that they have been placed on such a list but MIT will. She said they usually have a list because they know not all students for the first round of interviews will accept their offer so the wait list is needed. But it sucks because you can be on the wait list till the very end . So I want to know if anyone has placed on a waitlist especially from MIT.

Fayrlite, I am shocked at this as well as I will be flying out to Vanderbilt for the interview on Thursday (also microbiology). Apparently there are iterations of interview invitations depending on how many people take the initial interviews (I love alliterations).

Why the heck haven’t I heard from UNC (BBSP) or Duke (Cell and Molecular)??

Haven’t found anyone that’s heard from them on here either, at least not for the same department.

What gives!?

Sorry - just venting!

ssmbc09, what department at Boston University did you apply? I am not sure if “BU” at your interview list refers to Brown or Boston. If it’s Boston U and it happens to be Microbiology Department, can you tell me when you got the interview invitation?

Like everyone, I am frustrated that I have not heard back from many of my schools. I am still waiting to hear from:

Stanford
Rockefeller (Immuno)
Weill Cornell
Scripps (Immuno)
UCSF PSPG
UCSD

I have interviews with:
UCLA ACCESS (1/24-26)
UCI MBGB(1/29-2/1),
Baylor College of Med Translational Biology (2/5-2/8)
Boston University Microbiology (2/16)
UW-Seattle Pharmacology (2/19-2/21)

waiting and waiting and waiting…

Virion,

I heard from BU Microbiology via phone call on January 12. Hope that helps

sptaylor, thanks! Do they have choices of weekends for you to choose? I hope I will hear back from them.

The interview at Boston is just one day instead of a weekend, Monday Feb. 16. I got the impression that there was just one interview day, but they may have alternates in case you can’t make that date. Good luck!

Kj52–I’m waiting to hear from Stanford Dev Bio as well…along with UCSD, UW-Madison and Harvard. Urg!
