Official Biomedical Sciences Interviews/Acceptances 2009

Accepted by Harvard BBS today by email, international applicant, I am speechless.

Got accepted to Harvard BBS as well. I just received a call from one of the professors in adcom.

Belevitt- Wow Thursday? I’d love to hear your thoughts on the program after you get back. My husband decided to on the end of March but we had really wanted to have a school picked before then.

PhD-Bound, I don’t feel surprised. Harvard BBS program has accepted students from U of T in the past, and your excellent credentials also explain this acceptance. Congratulations!

Can someone tell me what dates NYU Sackler Open program and Weill Cornell BCMB interview dates are? Very much appreciated :)

Hey Virion I applied to the Molecular and Cell Bio program and heard from them a week ago. Hope this helps

CellBioGal5,

I eamiled Weill BCMB and got rejetion. It seems they have made decisions. You can call their office or email Ms Linda Smith for inquiry.

I finally heard back from Stanford Biosciences (Structural Biology) today. They sent a package in the mail. I’d expect that other people still waiting for some of the programs that don’t send emails should hear soon - the packet that I got said flights etc. must be arranged by Feb. 2.

got an invite through the mail for UCSD interview Chem&Biochem

what’re your stats, ssmcb09?

Has anyone heard from UChicago Neuro yet? When are Weill Cornell Neuroscience interviews?

Hi all, I have heard back from only one of all the places I applied to (Penn State) and am still waiting to hear from the rest (Boston University MCBB, Harvard BBS, Sloan-Kettering, Princeton Mol Bio, Brown, Dartmouth MCB, Columbia Umbrella program). But I have not received a rejection either. I am an international applicant from outside North America but I have three solid years of Masters thesis research, 1 publication in a very famous ASM journal, my PI is a very famous microbiologist, five semesters of TAing experience, and my scores are good. Is that good or bad? I know from experience that rejections come early. And if you still haven’t heard that means you are in the game. When I applied for MS I was in India and acceptances took a while to come, but rejections came in early January. I am now so scared. Every day people hear from the places they applied, but I get neither phone calls nor emails. Does anyone have any advice?

Applied to Boston University’s Department of Microbiology and the Immunology Training Program.

I was invited by a professor on the phone and via e-mail on Jan 13. On Jan 18, they sent out a very vague e-mail about the recruitment day (Mon Feb 16). It sounds like plans are not quite set yet and that makes me think that they’re probably still inviting people.

Good luck Virion! sptaylor, see you there.

Hey Devine. I never posted my stats on here but here is goes

G.P.A 3.45
GRE Verbal 640 GRe Quan 750 writing suck it was a 3. Hate being under pressure writing

But BU has more recruitment days not just Feb 16th I talked to someone at admissions but they just said that would email me about recruitment day. Still waiting to see if anyone has been wait listed from MIT. Thanks

Those of you accepted by Harvard BBS- congrats! May I ask which departments you listed as your first, second choices, etc?

just heard from Stanford Biosciences (Biochemistry) by mail. The package was sent on Jan. 16. Good luck everyone!

Hey 3141592653,
Congrats on your interviews. Was the Stanford Biochemistry an acceptance or interview invite and was it your first choice? Also was this the first you heard from them. i.e no emails or anything?
Thank you so much I’m still waiting to hear from them.

Just received an interview at IGP Northwestern (by email, this morning). I’m a Canadian applicant.

If anyone has questions about Rockefeller, let me know.

A few people have messaged me about this, so I’ll just post the answer here.

The Stanford package was an invitation to interview from Mar 4-8. It’s the first I’ve heard from them (no emails, phone calls, etc.) but mine might be an exceptional case because I’m not currently living in the US (it’s difficult to contact me by phone).

They want you to book your tickets by Feb 2, so if you are accepted you will probably hear from them soon. If there are any other questions, I’d be glad to answer them -just message me.
